    Having participated in a lot of international payments (both sending and receiving) I've spent a fair amount of time on investigating into different payment methods. Some methods are to costly, some would take to much effort on my side. Sometimes it's just the company's policies I can't agree with.

    Whichever service could stand the test made it into my "conditions of sale". I guess other sellers also made up their mind in a similar way and didn't just play checkbox-lottery when setting up their conditions.

    When someone bids on my auctions I expect him to fully accept the conditions of sale and live with the consequences. If there's something the bidder doesn't like he's free not to bid at all or try to resolve the matter before his bid. Some bidders have special needs and I'm usually open to any suggestion. Sometimes there's an agreeable solution, sometimes not. As each nation has it's preferred payment methods the trick is to find one both sides are happy with.


    When it comes to your case I'm lacking some details but it looks like the seller didn't want to get paid via paypal in the first place. Did you ask him about that before your bid or did you just disregard his conditions of sale and insist on paying with paypal afterwards?

    Sending money is the easy and relatively safe part and many people can agree to the company's rules on this part. Receiving money on the other side can have some serious implications. If you don't know what I mean just search the website for the "seller protection policy" (which de facto doesn't exist for us non US sellers) or read their "user agreement", especially the part about freezing your account at their sole discretion.

    I can fully understand anyone who doesn't want to take that risk or even support such a company by generating fees for them. Furthermore I can only hope that Delcampe will never enforce the use of any specific payment method. Even when Delcampe manages to establish their own wallet I might like to have it as an additional, but definately not as the only option.
