Sales this month.

I have been looking over my sales over the past 4 years when I started and my average monthly fee was around £40.00 a month. Over the last 18 months its been nearer £20.00 and more recently below that so there indeed is a big decline in the general collectibles market. Delcampe must have a plan to keep a good business model as times are changing but they need to be careful not to alienate sellers and buyers. I can see what they are trying to do but its a big risk in the present climate. When I look at the problem with selling into Europe from the UK and the added charges by Delcampe to the buyer, my accountancy cost which is almost as much as my main business, and postage rates shooting up I think I'm at the end of selling postcards anywhere so I will be shutting up shortly on all platforms. It's not my main business but it's now taking more and more time and its becoming more of a problem with too little profit to buy good new stock. I've been obsessed with postcards for 40 + years so I will miss the selling and buying.
Firstly I really hope you reconsider giving up PC’s as we are a dieing breed!
I am in the same boat this is only a hobby for me but one I intended to rely on when I give up my “Proper” job. However, sales has plummeted and buyers have become more unreliable when paying. I understand Delcampe reasons but there are better ways to have dealt with the issues, let’s hope they see the light soon.

    to all,
I just read your comments about the 'new Delcampe'.
My sales dropped down for 80% !!
Someone was telling to sell on eBid but I did before with very bad results with months of no sales.
In my opinion the Delcampe staff is only reading the French comments and does not see all our comment. I am not able to read French but I think there are also many, many disappointed sellers.
I wrote earlier about a change to 5% + E 0,15 for sellers and the same for buyers. Should that be a good idee ?

No. The prices will then remain just as high as they are now and collectors would rather look elsewhere. You can also pay with a real bank transfer there and with a check in France. Here you have to use the unknown and unpopular Mangopay. In addition, the service is better elsewhere, especially much faster. The fear here is that with the decline in income, staff will be cut and the service will definitely not be any better then.

Spitting the provision is always better and the large auction houses are doing that but everything is now to late and Delcampe will destroy themselve.
Otherwise I'v tried eBay, eBid, Hipstamp, KMP, Catawiki and others but all with bad results.
Problems with others is that they have most of the customers in the USA and that will give a large problem with the Customs.
Lots on Catawiki must be over EURO 75 and the customer support is very, very bad. Responce after 2 weeks asking to add a new question if the old question is not finished.
I still have hope that Delcampe will change things in a better way.

Collectors certainly don't stop collecting. They just don't like Delcampe anymore and go somewhere else. You just have to monitor the market and watch them.

You are completely right but with over 1600 items in my store it is a not so easy to change.

    Hello,
I have a store on Ebid since 2008 (same seller ID) and have sold a total of 140 covers. Ebid do not promote their site. You have to do your own promotion, mostly through your current buyers. Their rates are super low, but not much help it nothing sells.

Hi I have an Ebid group of shops also and my genuine feedback is over 23000 which reflects the amount of sales so I must be doing something right. I know the site gets a lot of critisism for being slow to sell but the buyers are loyal and repeat sales are numerous.
All depends on price and service once you get a buyer . Postcards are very slow to sell but stamps are very good I find.

That's interesting about ebid. A lot depends on what you are listing, I have bought postcards from ebid over the years probably a few hundred for my personal collection so I know items do sell.

My monthly Delcampe fees used to be about £40 a month. After the changes it’s dropped to hardly nothing, in spite of reducing my prices to create some interest. It’s all a bit depressing.
