Time Wasters

I do like Delcampe, it's Easy & Quick to use, Great customer service if there is a problem and with a fair fee structure.

The only thing that is really really annoying are the None Paying Time Wasters & these aren't new buyers who have stumbled across the site, bought something on impulse and then forgot about it, they are regular users, if you look at their feedback they will have dozens of negatives for none payment.

I have had more in the last 6 Months than I have had in years on another site & had to deal with another 2 this morning, over 2 weeks without payment, contact or response to various messages yet who appear to be on the site daily.

I know there is a proceedure & I follow it including negative feedback but it obviously isn't a deterent.
How many None Payment negatives do they need to accumalate before something can be done?
Is there a way of blocking potential buyers who have a history of none payment before they can buy?

The problem often is that neutral feedback is left for these people instead of the negative feedback that they deserve. Many of these so called buyers would have been booted off Delcampe a long time ago if they got a red dot instead of a neutral.

You can check the feedback of buyers and can block or cancel transactions of such people and add them to your blocked bidder list. I have had a running argument with such a person who messed me about so I cancelled their transactions and when they complained referred them to their own feedback! Needless to say they are blocked. Life is too short to worry about such people.

I sympathise with you, but I have quite the opposite problem. I believe that Delcampe should block sellers that take the money but do not shop the goods or respond to any queries. I placed an order (and paid) with "cisgus" as he/she appeared to have a number of stamps I wanted. But after 4 weeks he had still to ship them. He didn't respond to my 3 messages querying what was happening. Surely there should be a way to ban sellers like this?

OK he has a 94% feedback and so I should have read the negatives (I didn't), but really this is unacceptable and there should be a way of having sellers like this removed from Delcampe as they do nothing to enhance the website from the buyers perspective.

For me there isn't now a problem as I won't deal again, as Paypal gave me a refund in seconds!

You did the correct thing by making payment through Paypal so you could get your money back. Many lose their money by making payment by a method where your money is gone if the seller does not perform.

This is one of the inherent weaknesses of Delcampe IMHO - the poor support buyers get when sellers fail to perform in supplying items paid for or in supplying sub standard items. One gets the impression that Distance Selling Regulations have no meaning to some sellers on Delcampe. You will often see terms and conditions peppered with illegal disclaimers such as the most common one stating a seller has no responsibility for items lost in the mail etc.

Saying all that I, personally, find Delcampe a good site to sell on and, with care, a good site to buy on.

    Thanks for your reply wycombe1.

I use Delcampe a lot as I can easily buy new issue stamps on the site that I can't get elsewhere, not even on eBay. But it does mean buying from all over the world, which would be great, if the sellers had reasonble terms. But I have to avoid many as their terms are difficult to understand or ambiguous.

Where I've purchased, I've very rarely had any problems, and everything sent has been received. It's just the odd supplier that's caused me problems, and as often as not they've been UK based (where I am) so it's not that they are abroad. I do admit to needing to pay more attention to the feedback of sellers, before placing orders, though.

By paying by PayPal those rare problems are eliminated!

As you say, it can be a very good site to buy on.
