Why do you assume everyone has a passport? I went to sign up to Delcampe Pay but you would not except my driving licence as proof of identity why not?.
If you think I am going to send a copy of my passport I afraid you are sadly mistaken .So I opt out .

This is probably because the financial institution behind Delcampe Pay is requesting this method of identity proof.

It is becoming more and more common for a passport to be used as ID in cross border financial verification. A few weeks back I was in Rwanda and needed to complete some financial transaction and passport proof was required. Other ID was declined so I had a choice whether to comply and complete my business or decline and shoot myself in the foot.

Even here in the UK it is becoming more common for a passport to be used for financial transactions. It has now become a de-facto ID document in many cases. There has been many a time I have been in a queue in a bank or elsewhere where irate old age pensioners have been turned away for wrong ID - bus pass - bank card and the like - arguing they do not need or want a passport!!

    Hi "deadbaron",

Member 'Wycombe1" has answered for me.

The financial institution behind MangoPay requires this document as identity proof.
I understand that this is an issue for people who do not possess one because they never needed one, but in this case, their Delcampe Pay won't be verified.

    Kind regards,
    Miranda
