Trump's Tariffs

I had not realised all parcel shipment to the USA have been suspended due to Mr Trump's tariffs.
I fell foul of this over the weekend where I had to refuse a possible large order for Japanese rail tickets which would have weighed several kilos. My potential customer was willing to pay the tariffs on arrival as well.
Using another courier was possible but far more expensive but this cost increased due to the paperwork involved getting certificates or origin etc. plus any other paperwork that would have been required.
Fortunately for most of us ordinary mail is not (yet) targeted.

Update - my Post Office is now accepting signed and tracked letters and packages to the USA. One still cannot send by ordinary airmail so an expensive option if items are middle to low value.

Before shipping you do need to know if your customer is going to pay any tariffs due otherwise they will be returned.

Canada Post will mail only when tariffs, if any,are already paid by sender (seller). Some items ,stamps and postcards are exempt of tariffs ,at least by US government website. It's applied only on mail with tracking, regular mail should be fine.As for now is to early to say how it would work, but its a big mess and time consuming.
