    I am posting this seeking feedback on a couple of issues. I am a realatively new seller on Delcampe. I sell stamps for collectors, and to date have listed over 100 items. I believe that my pricing falls within fair market value. I recoganize that in today's market challenges sales can be difficult. However, I get a large number of 'visits' to my items but no one purchases. To be exact I have listed three items far below accepted value and yet, still no response. Am I to conclued that the market has virtually collapsed? I understand that there are added-on costs when a buyer makes a purchass. I have no idea what the fees acutally are (or total), nor how many buyers have abandoned the purchases when given the final total. This information would be very usefull. Further, (and perhaps I have missed this) I do not see any option on the listings for the potential buyer to enter into a dialogue with the seller. By example I mean that other sites have a 'Contact Seller' option. Thank you, and any information which you can provide is most appreciated. :cool2:

    Delcampe removed the Contact Seller option for any potential buyer. (its now only available for buyers who have already bought from a seller). This was Delcampe]s heavy handed solution to a spate of phishing messages a while ago.
    Now the only way a potential buyer can contact a seller is via the ask a question on a listing (but then the conversations are public)

    sales down all round DelCampe have managed to kill off buyers with new fees.
    Ebay has done similar but is bouncing back now.
    I have started to BUNCH lots together to make them more appealing to buyers, but with 2,600 lines this is going to take a lots of work.
    I also sell on EBid and it is very quiet with little to no traffic.
    DelCampe could do with an edge to boost them back up.

    I also sell on EBid and it is very quiet with little to no traffic.
    DelCampe could do with an edge to boost them back up.
    Money issues are all over,not easy times.Many thing ,that would go easily for $10 10-20 years ago,now hardly going of 3-5.Less and less people collecting,not much fresh blood,it's just a reality.

    There are plenty of people collecting, a recent show I was at was very well attended. The difference now is that it’s not just eBay and Delcampe was it was some years ago. There are plenty of other sites plus more dealers have their own websites. Delcampe can be directly compared to a number of other sites and buyers take their choice from all of those

    Maybe in UK,here in Canada less shows,than used to be.Average age of people at stamp shows apr.50+.I'm in collecting for over 40+ years and it's absolutely not comparable.Also prices for many stamps are well lower,than used to be.I'm not talking about rare stamps,but many stamps you can get now for 10% or less of CV. By auction invoices I found in some estate collections see it pretty well,for something bought 20-30 years ago,now you cannot get even 1/3. Some thematic are practically gone forewer.Its like safety matches labels popular many years ago or phone cards boom just 20 years ago.Kids (at least here in Canada) practically not interested in philately,when mine was in a school ,wanted to give away albums full of stamps,it was zero interest ((.

    Yep; I inherited a voluminous stamp collection several years ago, sent the better items to auction and was surprised that they fetched perhaps 20% of catalog value. I've had better success here than on ebay, but coming to the realization that the effort is probably not worth the time.
    See it pretty often on estate sales when relatives decide to sale cheap their grandparents/parents collections in once,than to sell piece by piece on auctions.

    There is certainly a lack of interest for most buyers now as they have most of what they wanted, not enough new blood taking up the hobby, tried various sites and not much sales on any of them, what was a everyday on the computer is now turning into a missed day just to catch up on putting some listings on, certainly not packing much up this last few months
