No, you can do it all from home, on your computer, pay by paypal, print the label, stick it on and post in the box down the road, a lot easier than going to the PO, I plead guilty on all counts! (bit long winded but its all done for you, you even get a customs declaration!)

Perhaps someone will collect these labels, they do "Horizon" labels!
On a related matter I see in the news today that some of those sub-postmasters that were wrongly prosecuted by the British PO over the Horizon computer system not only had their convictions quashed but have won compensation, good luck to them I say! Running a sub-post-office is a thankless task.
They closed ours but its reopened as a Co-op store where any of the staff serve you and you can post letters and parcels anytime they're open, 7am to 11pm! is this the shape of things to come?

Yes, we've had that for a few years in our local Spar, it works fine. Bit of teething problems as initially the Spar staff didn't know the system well enough to deal with some of the odder variants in PO business, but means I don't have to go to the Crown PO in the town, pay extortionate parking charges or risk a ticket by parking outside. And during lockdown it became an integral part of my daily walk!

Spose it works cos you don't expect so much of the PO now, advice etc you can get much online like vehicle tax and the gov don't use them to collect tax (so much) things like dog licences have gone

It's a wonderful cover, of course, it's just so strange in several ways, too--why the heavy use of the most boring definitive of the time (it's from 1999)? Did a postal employee in New York City actually hand-cancel the whole cover? (see the image, several stamps were missed) Or was the sender given a cancelling device to do the work? It has over 100 postmarks on it and 408 stamps.
    It's got 2c stamps to a $10.75 stamp (20 x 2c; 60 x 20c; 282 x 32c; 19 x 33c; 20 x 55c; 11 x 77c; 2 x $1.00; 3 x $3.20; 1 x $10.75) Sure beats a postage meter! (maybe it was broken that day?)
I noticed this cover in a stack of cardboard boxes to be recycled at an office I was delivering a package to; I asked if I could take it and when the receptionist said 'yes' it road around in my truck for the rest of the day :cool2:
