So what you see is not what you get? Donc ce que vous voyez n'est pas ce que vous obtenez?

I asked if the photos were contractural, got no reply, took a chance!! What I saw was not what I got. Why would a seller not post images of what they had for sale, but post an alternative? They are going to the bother of taking a photo and using it in the listing. This is ok for mint postage stamps but everything else?

Sellers: I will block and not use you if you have non contractural photos, its that simple. Maybe sellers should make the effort and not lose potential sales?

If a seller cannot respond to questions about their items I would not touch them with a barge pole. It would have been a simple matter to respond saying it was a 'stock photo' or even simpler stating that in the description so you were forewarned you might not get the exact item.

I notice he gives the excuse it could have been returned for exchange for the correct item but in these days of high shipping charges I bet he would have not been the one to pay. He is a high volume seller with a high volume of negatives for poor service so the warning signs were there,

Cant disagree with your reply. I was too desirous of the item pictured: a rare date in the lamouche carnet collecting world! ;) the seller gets a forum thread on their conduct Vinculo (http) if anyone is interested.
Will look out my barge pole!
    cheers
