Seller will not reply

I bought a postcard on Aug 1st and paid for it on 2nd Aug. about a week ago I sent a message saying I had not received the postcard, and as it was posted in France I had expected to receive it before the 20th Aug at least. (The seller was going on holiday on 9th Aug, and as they received payment on the 2nd Aug there was no reason why they couldn't have posted the card before leaving on the 9th.) They did not reply to that message or a second message. In desperation I e-mailed them , and the reply was "how did you pay?" I sent a reply straight away saying "Skrill". No reply to my answer! I then e-mailed again with a copy of the receipt. I STILL have not had any reply. It really is disgraceful that some sellers are happy to take your money but totally refuse to answer when there is a problem. I have contacted Delcampe twice (second time just today) and no reply from them either! I have opened a dispute also, and the seller has not responded to that even. What on earth can I do? Why should this person get away with taking my money (buying postcards is a real luxury for me) and not send the goods?:angryfire:

If the seller is uncooperative there is unfortunately not much you can do except possibly to leave negative feedback to warn others about the sellers behaviour. Does the seller have feedback that indicates previous problems with other buyers?

Perhaps it may be a good idea to only pay using a method where you can get your money back in the event of a bad transaction (credit card or Paypal) in any future buying. If such a payment method is not offered then do not buy.

Thank you for your reply. The seller has 99% positive feedback, and they offer Skrill in the e-wallet, so I paid via that. Can I get my money back through Skrill? I am fairly new to Skrill (Moneybookers as was) and only use it when paypal is not offered. I have sent the seller 4 messages and two e-mails , opened a dispute and have had only one response, ie "How did you pay me?" (In French) . I sent a message back saying Skrill, then I sent a copy of the receipt in an e-mail to them. There has been no response at all.

Unfortunately with Skrill (Moneybookers) you cannot claim your money back. Once sent it is gone and some sellers are reluctant to refund anyway because Skrill charge for refunds unlike Paypal where a refund is free of charges.

Do you mean by leaving poor feedback? I think they should be stopped from selling on Delcampe-period! I do not care if people are ill or whatever, I have been in that position myself , but i have got a friend to do the necessary transaction in order that my customers were fully satisfied. I am furious at this person! How dare they take my money and then totally ignore me? I still haven't had a reply from "Demitri" on delcampe neither, who is supposed to help in these cases.
I have to say except for a few, that sellers on delcampe are very slow to reply in general. Would I get into trouble myself if I named and shamed the person on delcampe so everybody could see it?

Well, they say it is good to talk - that way these kinds of negativity will not pop up. In my opinion there is no real excuse for poor communication - if there is a problem, then say so or make some alternative arrangement, like you say - nobody minds that.

Leaving negative Feedback is one thing for sure that you can apply to shake up this seller so that other buyers will see it and act accordingly.

In my opinion naming and shaming on the forum is not be a bad thing either - after all, what can you really lose after all? So long as you are polite, you would not be telling an untruth.

It is very poor that Delcampe support isn't helping you here either - that's the real rub - and I'm sure adds to your frustration here.

    best luck ..........

Thank you for your reply. I have sent two more e-mails to the seller asking them to respond and left copies of those e-mails on delcampe messages so they can be seen by any delcampe mediator on there. I have also left a message on the page of the item as a "question", so this cannot be removed unless I remove it. I know this seller has logged onto delcampe so why do they not reply? They now cannot fail to see that "question" on the item. There is NO excuse! I personally have done nothing wrong, paid within a few hours of the auction ending and waited patiently for over 3 weeks for the person to to click the "item sent" icon. Once they had the money, just one reply, which I also answered immrediately with the proof of payment. Surely it would cost them nothing to simply say why they have not sent the item or refunded me? Ugh!

After about ANOTHER 6 messages I gave up and opened a dispute, AND contacted Delcampe too. NO reply!! So I left really bad feedback. I wasn't very gracious I'm afraid. FINALLY I get a response! They said theyu had now sent the card. Yippee! A few days later I got another message to say they HAD NOT sent thre card after all and were about to do so, but meanwhile would I please remove the feedback! Then another message asking me to remove the feedback again! I wrote and said I would wait until I had either the card or my money in my possesion before altering the feedback. I finally got the card last Friday! NEVER again! I don't care if it is one card or fifty, a customer is a customer-period.

No not fully. I retracted the bit that made reference that what they were doing was tantamount to theft and for others to be aware. I said that I had now received the card and that our problems were finally solved. There was no explanation whatsoever from the seller as to why they refused to answer, even though I asked. There is no excuse. If I was selling stuff and I had a computer crash or was ill, I would use a friend's or get them to complete everything, to ensure my sales went through safely.

i can see your frustration ok,i was lucky in a recent tranaction on ebay,i paid for cards by paypal, sure enough the letter arrived but nothing inside it,the seller had sent it by signed for but postman dropped it thro my letterbox,so when i contacted seller he rightly said you should not have accepted empty letter,so i explained situation.he said he was going on holiday and could we sort it out on his return,so i said ok.then i get contact from ebay/paypal that the time for claiming thro them will end in a day or so,so i sent seller email asking him to contact me before deadline,no answer so i had to escalate claim with paypal or i would have no chance with them.which i felt bad about as maybe seller was not at fault?so it ended up that i was awarded my payment back from them,so i did not lose money but i lost the cards i wanted which was worse for me..so maybe the seller is thinking yeah lost cards as i think yeah sent cards, the only other note is i have not heard from the seller at all, does this show guilt..it is a fine line we tread as the post systems in a lot of countries including the uk are not great, but i hate the feeling that we cant trust each other in the collecting as it takes the goodness out of our hobbys.oh i did not leave a bad feedback on the seller as i am not 100% sure who was to blame.

In my opinion you were not to blame because as with any transaction there is a responsibility between the seller and the buyer each to the other, and this procedure is globally accepted. It is the sellers responsibility to ensure that the goods are in the hands of the recipient, Their responsibility does not end until the goods are in your hands. Your responsibility as a buyer in the transaction, ends when your seller is in receipt of the required payment for the said goods.
This same information comes from the consumer rights, the bank and paypal. They all say the same thing.
In this particular case the seller posted an empty packet or were the cards stolen and the packet re-sealed? Registered mail is not always a secure method of mailing, because I have had 2 registered packets each containing nearly $400 of cards, stolen . The packets never reached these English shores as they were not on the system. Regardless the seller has to carry the responsibilitiy because you never got the goods. ALSO the post is liable here too. They should NEVER have dropped a packet requiring a signature thro' your door. You should get in touch with your local sorting office concerning that, because they are now also at fault for an entirely different matter.

hi ,re contacting the post office i did write to the customer service centre, all they were interested in was saying its up to the forgein post to sort it out, after 3 letters from them i had number to send to the guy to claim on,i told them i know that i could not claim but my seller was telling me i should not have signed,so they eventually sort of admitted they had no record of signature for the letter, they give you the usual apology stuff and hope that you will just give up..i just wanted to confirm to my seller that i was genuine in my claim.
