PAYPAL Payments

When receiving PAYPAL payments I have been used to receiving both an advice from Delcampe and a payment notification from PAYPAL.

Over the last few days I have only been receiving the Delcampe advice. This is a nuisance because I often find the address on the PAYPAL notification is more complete (and sometimes different!) so I like to do a cross-check.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I sometimes get one or t'other, though usually both

I generally refer back to the sale notification for delivery address, so it doesn't really affect me

    Thanks for your responses.
I've had two instances today where the address shown on Delcampe was incomplete ... and checking the PAYPAL details proved important.

Anyhow, I raised this issue with Delcampe Support yesterday ... and await their response.

    Hello,

The email is sent from us as soon as PayPal confirms the transaction's status. If we get it, the email is automatically sent.

In your case, it seems the PayPal email is missing, so nothing to do with us, and no need to contact our support, you should then better contact PayPal's support.

I really don't understand your comment.

The PAYPAL email comes from PAYPAL, not from Delcampe.

Delcampe also sends an advice, assuming the payment is made via the e-wallet.

The two advices are usually simultaneous.

This is no longer happening (the feature stopped working on Wednesday this week) ... as I now only receive the Delcampe advice. For many buyers the address recorded on Delcampe is incomplete and I have been in the habit of comparing address information between the Delcampe packing list and the PAYPAL payment advice. The latter is usually more complete (and in some instances better presented).

The PAYPAL email I used to receive would surely have been triggered by the e-wallet payment initiated by my buyer as a result of the Delcampe - PAYPAL interface.

If you are saying that Delcampe does not trigger the PAYPAL payment confirmation then I will have to accept the situation. Trying to even get a response out of PAYPAL is pretty much hopeless so I will not be wasting my time.

I can of course check the address information by looking up the PAYPAL transaction in PAYPAL but this is less convenient.

For me, it is all smoke and mirrors, because I don't understand how the Delcampe - PAYPAL interface works and why I feature that was working one moment suddenly fails.

    Dear Alan,

    Indeed, here is the process:

    - We show the buyer the total amount, with details
    - We redirect the buyer on PayPal (so out of our site)
    - The buyer pays
    - PayPal emails you
    - PayPal confirms us the transaction status
    - We send you an email.

Sometimes, the notifications can be done in less than one second.

But, indeed, if you do not receive the PayPal email, I can only say that we can do nothing about that.

I suspect the problem may be with Paypal - up until recently the e-mail from Paypal arrived either at the same time or generally shortly before the Delcampe one, but I have noticed in the last few weeks that the Delcampe e-mail arrives first (on occasion the Paypal e-mail has been up to 12 hours behind!).
Like yourself I also check the Paypal address against the Delcampe address and was used to doing so by using the Paypal notification, but now I'm stuck with having to use the Delcampe e-mail to find out how the buyer paid, paypal or Moneybookers) and the going into that.

Good luck with Paypal if you're trying to get a response from them!!

Oh joy of joys ... yes, I have tried to contact PAYPAL.

I have a 5 page (standard responses) style email which completely ignores the question! Familiar situation to eBay ... absolutely hopeless.

My situation is slightly different to Moonstone's in that I haven't received any Delcampe related payment advices from PAYPAL since Wednesday.

And now the decision is down to how much time I wish to waste dealing with PAYPAL banging my head against a brick wall or can I manage the inconvenience of having to check transaction payments in PAYPAL on line.

It is at that point that you can place a value on the Delcampe support and responses ... that sometimes appear slow but in fact they are zillion times better than most other sites.

An update ... as reported previously I did contact PAYPAL ... and as expected I received their automated response 5 page email with loads of possible issues but nothing remotely close to the problem that I had reported. This was followed 24 hours later with a 'Survey' request to comment on how well they had dealt with my problem report. This sequence of responses is what we have come to expect from PAYPAL and eBay - I'm sure others will be familiar with them.

I had put aside a little time today to escalate the matter.

However, surprise surprise the fault may have been corrected because the PAYPAL confirmations are starting to come through again. I am obviously pleased but I really would have liked to know what was causing the problem.

Thanks Seb for taking the time to provide a full explanation of the process from the Delcampe side. That was helpful.

    Alan,

Although I have not had problems with not receiving the Paypal notifications, I did notice something else.

Up to recently, Paypal notification would come from "customer@their email address". All the notifications I've had through since Wed/Thu of last week have come from "service@paypal".

Maybe Paypal have made some sort of a change to their email notifications and it's taken a few days for the system to "settle down".

    My experience was slightly different.

All non-Delcampe originated payments came through as normal customer@their email address.

delcampe originated payment notifications were non-existent.

    I received no service@paypal notification.

Something to keep an eye on. There clearly has been some sort of change ... and maybe it affects us all differently!

What was the relevance of the PAYPAL change?

    I haven't received any notification.

After a frustrating period of about a week everything appears to have returned to what it was doing before ... and I am again receiving both the Delcampe advice and PAYPAL notification simultaneously.

It was a privacy directive from the EEC....names or email addresses cannot be used in the advices from paypal. The failure of D emails was not connected and probably a glitch.

I am happy to see that that the EEC is concentrating on such serious issues rather than deciding to sort out the economic mess in Europe......fiddling whilst Rome burns? Perhaps new massively expensive directives on the continued use of lbs & ounces or feet & inches or driving on the left will be next on the agenda .

Glad to see nothing has changed since I left the UK!!! :crying:

I know the interface with PAYPAL has been improved recently in that all the items purchased / paid for now appear on the PAYPAL notification. However, one of my customers ran into a problem yesterday when trying to settle via e-wallet as he was not being allowed to pay for all his purchases. Since he had purchased a staggering 191 items I did wonder whether there was a limitation within the 'new' interface?

He has since sent a manual PAYPAL payment so there is no issue in terms of holding up the order but I'm not relishing having to update the records item by item :crying:

Anyhow I would be interested in your comments and/or the experiences of any other sellers.

    Dear Alan,

I have been in contact with the buyer of your items and when I verified her E-wallet, I did see all of the 191 items in the list, so everything seems to be in order now. However, I do not know if this is due to a fix or because the system needed some time to update.

Should you still encounter difficulties like this one in the future, do not hesitate to contact us at info@delcampe.com .

    Best regards,

    Dimitri from the Delcampe Team
