An old Russian household rite of acquaintance of the groom and his relatives with the bride.
Smotriny (gazes, glances, glances, glances; Belarusian aggledzins, aglyadsins, aglyads, glances, glances, umovina, damovina; Ukrainian look, look, look) is a Slavic wedding ceremony, which is part of the wedding conspiracy and is a continuation of matchmaking. Two types of wedding viewings are known: inspection by the bride's relatives of the groom's house and household, known to all Slavs; and the bride's bride (sometimes both young people) in her house as the first meeting of the bride and groom in the presence of relatives. Bride's bridesmaids as an independent ceremony are most characteristic of a Russian wedding, but are also known to other Slavs (Slovaks, Bulgarians, Serbs).
The bridegroom with his parents and the matchmaker did not go to the bride's bride in a direct way, but drove further and made a circle - according to custom, "confusing the matter." Later, the rite of bridegroom incorporated matchmaking and handshaking and could therefore drag on for more than one week, the reason for which were disputes about the size of the dowry, etc.
