Paypal not refunding fees on full refunds

    I have just processed a full refund to a customer whose order failed to arrive and noticed that Paypal now keep their fees when they do this. In the past the complete amount used to be refunded to the customer.

    Presumably I missed the announcement about this. Can anyone tell me when this became the norm?

    Seems like a good reason to finally ditch Paypal particularly as Delcampe now has its own payment system established and the other site now processes in house payments.

    This has been the case for a few months now, I can't recall exactly when. PayPal's argument was that they had to process both the original transaction and the refund therefore there was a cost to them in doing that, which, while it's annoying, is not totally unreasonable, I suppose.

    I don't think Delcampe Pay do either though I have only done a couple of partial refunds here so can't be really sure.

    I'm not ditching PayPal as yet, but I do notice that the percentage of buyers paying by Delcampe Pay has increased significantly in the past while. I would estimate my payments by DPay are about 30% of my total, up from about 10% not so long ago.

    Main advantage is that it's cheaper, certainly for larger sales. It's not massive, probably about 5-10% over a range of sales. It all adds up. For small sales, it's more or less about the same, but the difference is noticeable with larger sales. For say £30 sale, DP costs about £0.50 less.

    "Money withdrawals are not subject to any fees within the European Union.
    However, transfers to countries outside the European Union may be charged bank fees."
    What is the case for a UK mainstream bank?

    I think this depends on the bank concerned and possibly the type of account. My transfers are currently free.
