BHUTAN, 17 Environmental Trust Fund Postcards, unused 1993 postcard set in carton cover.
17 different postcards in full color in a carton cover, showing landscapes, local flowers, animals and the Rinpung Dzong in Paro. The picture is multi-color, somewhat glossy, often quite dark. It is framed in a thick orange line, set in a wide crème colored border. The border contains text at the top; first Dzongkha letters, then “BHUTAN” in bold, capital letters, followed by “Environmental Trust Fund”; in portrait arranged fronts, this text is spread over two lines. At the bottom of the border the title of the picture is provided, for instance “Blue Sheep”. Only 4 pictures have a portrait format, the remaining are landscaped.
The post cards are super-sized and the back undivided, with a postage box represented by the four corners only and in the middle of the box the words “POSTAGE STAMP”, with five dotted address lines and the word “POSTCARD” in the center of the top. Added are the words “Printer: Secura, Singapore” in the right bottom corner. The message space carries a stylized drawing of a Buddha statue in the left upper corner and the words “Issued by Posts and Telegraphs” in the lower left corner.
The top of the carton cover box shows a drawing of deer in landscape format, while the back has a picture of a waterfall in portrait format. Both are set in the same orange frame as the postcards, although the border is now light off-white. As with the pictures there is text in the wide border: at the front side first at the top Dzongkha letters, then “Environmental Trust Fund”, followed by “BHUTAN” in bold capital letters, and the words “POST CARDS” in bold at the bottom. The back only has text at the bottom: “COVER ILLUSTRATIONS BY MR A.B. TAMANG & CHHETRI” in small-sized capital letters. There is also text at both long sides of the box “ 17 BHUTAN ENVIRONMENTAL POST CARDS”. The ones with an animal picture have been used as well for Maxi Card purposes.
