Looks like we are all suffering ... again. I too uploaded some items using Lister this afternoon c50 in fact around 2pm. None have appeared ... yet.

I also listed a few items on line in Delcampe ... these all appeared instantaneously.

It really would be helpful to know when there are bottlenecks causing delays to listings appearing. Delcampe communication unfortunately is non-existent on such matters. :pc_user3:

Maybe I should have listed it on ebay which was my original intention!:angryfire:

Does it ever get brought up with the powers that be in Delcampe about their poor communications, its all very well to aspire to take over from ebay as the main collectables site, but dont start adopting their worst habits!?

It's only a guess, but I suspect what's happening is that listings are being allocated a number and this is shown on the final screen, but the request to update the actual database is going into a 'holding pen' until it can be dealt with, at which point a confirmatory email is sent out

I don't use the lister so don't know how it works, but I guess you don't get the final screen like you do when starting individual lots so everything goes into the system without notification to you

Obviously the number of items awaiting update can vary throughout the day, and by starting several items at the same time is going to cause a measurable delay, so just imagine the electronic indigestion caused when our 'friends' decide to dump several HUNDRED items onto the system

Patience is the order of the day; and unless things have gone seriously wrong everything will be dealt with in due course

Usually confirmation of Lister uploads comes through within minutes with a confirmation of each listing.

No doubt there is a bottleneck on this occasion ... caused by who knows what.

The fact remains that delays of many hours should be advised somewhere to lessen the stress. Delcampe fails to do this which is a pity.

Patience is called for when you are aware that delays might occur but I have never had to wait many hours for a listing to appear without any given reason. As somebody else has said listings are usually posted within minutes, this is so far outside the norm there must be something wrong, which delcampe are not saying about.
Do I retry the listing, and then risk double listing, or give up and list it on ebay?:smash:

I would just wait a while - I've listed a dozen or so covers over the last half-hour and all are showing up correctly both in the store list and when I click on the category, so whatever it was causing the hold-up seems (fingers crossed) to have cleared

I have now reported the matter to Support so that it is a matter of record.

This time delay is unacceptable ... and seems to be becoming a feature of the site unfortunately.

It shows the site is becoming more and more popular. I can sympathise with Delcampe's technical team as they are continually having to increase server space for the increase in listings. As the competition becomes more and more expensive (Ebay and its continual fee gouging) people are looking for alternatives. I believe Ebid has had the same problems. So this delay in listings appearing is symptomatic of Delcampe's success in dragging in new listers from other sites.

However, as has already been stated, some of our euphemistically called 'friends' have also been flooding the site with their lists and re-lists so if you are unlucky enough to have listed at the same time then there can and will be a considerable delay in items appearing. I have had some items take up to 18 hours to appear in the past - but they have all eventually appeared so listing again is not the answer - patience is!

As somebody who generally keeps their head down and gets on with listing I do not often visit the forums (although I know I should), but can you give me some idea of the "Friends" flooding the site with relists etc? Doesnt everybody relist items if they dont sell?
    Thanks

I don't use the lister and am not listing at the moment anyhow, but I do feel that maybe Delcampe has made a mistake to make the lister compatible so that 100's of 1000's of items can be imported in one foul scoop from other auction sites.

Combine with that the fact that some of the "big inventory" sellers are still abusing the system, inevitably it's going to cause delays from time to time.

Maybe they should introduce a maximum number of items per person per day for the lister.

But my point at the beginning was that I do not have problems using Lister, and I can bulk list (new items I have typed in myself!) 30-40 and they have arrived in minutes with confirmation email. This item was was important as it was a £150 item, just seems to have got lost!?

Well it looks as if the problem is going to persist as none of my 40+ listings uploaded this morning have appeared yet.

Clearly Delcampe need to assess and address this ongoing issue with listings being delayed. If limiting the number of listings uploaded each day by a single seller is a solution then that's what they need to implement.

However, some form of communication to indicate that there is a known problem would be appreciated I'm sure.

The problem is uploads from Lister.

I have received a response from Support saying that the IT team are looking into the problem now. I'm not sure whether this means that I am the first person to bring this to their attention or that they have been working on the problem for some time.

Watch this space as they say.

Yes I have just found that out myself, I ran out of patience and re input the sale just using the Sell Form in Delcampe and it went through almost instantaneously. Why I didnt do it like that originally:angryfire: Now I just have to look out for when the Lister version of it loads to cancel it!!

Same problem here. I listed a number of items around 13 hours ago (using the Lister) and they are only just starting to filter through.

Some - but not all - are appearing in my ongoing sales within My Control Panel but none are yet visible on the main site.

I know they are somewhere in the system because the number of items shown after the relevant category heading in my store does not match the number of items shown when you click through. I listed about 100 items - the number it says next to the category heading is 341 and then when you click through it shows 294 items but none of the ones I listed.

They've started showing up now but the order is all jumbled up.

I had listed the items (stamps) in catalogue number order so that it's easier for buyers to compare with their catalogue but now they're all over the place in a totally random order.

I think I'll probably close them all & re-list them in the hope that next time they will be in chronological order - which is how they usually appear.

What a complete waste of valuable time.
