    The interesting thing about this PM is that it marks the second WJC and I couldn't find any reference to it.

    I know that it's a regular stamp, but the interesting part is the unusual postmark.

    I've checked extensively but can find no reference to any WJC activity in Vienna in 1936; the WJC was established in Geneva in August of that year and there were two prior plenary sessions, neither of which were held in Vienna

    It might help if I could decipher the last word on the cancel but the perforations and stamp design conspire to confuse me!

    Another problem is the central device - the only relevant reference I can find is the Birmingham Jewish Federation (in Alabama, USA) which was founded in 1936 so whether this has any connection or not I don't know

    I have searched the net (before getting up my question on Delcampe) with the BJF letters that have a special Symbol of swords and the only clue is:
    Emil Offner book- ‎Bund Jüdischer Frontsoldaten Österreichs, Wien - 1935
    So it could be that this was a World congress of the Jewish soldiers.
