I sell in Pound Sterling and have just come to a crashing halt listing some items because the selling form has decided to default to Euros and whatever I do I cannot change it to my selling currency,

Anyone know of a work around?

    Hi Wycombe1,

In order to simplify the Delcampe website and your transactions, it is no longer be possible to put items up for sale in a different currency than the one of your account.

From today, when listing a new item, you will no longer be able to choose the currency. For the items already listed in another currency than your accounts, note that we have automatically converted their prices (based on the exchange rates of the day).

If you would like to change the currency of your account, you can do so by clicking here: Vinculo (https) .

Please note that this change can only be made once every 30 days.

Buyers will continue to see your items whose prices will be converted into the currency of their choice if necessary.

    Kind regards,
    Miranda

PS: FYI, we have sent several newsletters regarding this. The latest one was sent less than 2 weeks ago.

    Thanks Miranda.

My account is in Pounds Sterling. I have always listed in this currency because I live in the UK. I was listing some Japanese miniature sheets in my currency of choice - Pounds sterling - when suddenly I could list no more because the selling form was limited to Euros.

I had seen all the information regarding currency changes. If my account is now in Euros why can't I list in that currency. The selling form is only giving me the choice of Euros but not allowing me to list in that currency.

None of my items for sale has defaulted to Euros and as far as I can see they are all still in Pounds Sterling.

I think I see the problem.

My Delcampe bills are paid in Euros so it looks as if I have a Euro account although I list in Pounds Sterling.

For some reason I cannot change this to Pounds Sterling. When trying to do so the 'confirm' button is greyed out.

All the prices in my shop have now reverted from Pounds to Euros. This is fine with me - I shall simply continue to list in Euros which should not be a problem as most of my sales are to EU customers.

This is totally my fault in making assumptions and not reading messages properly - one of the hazards of listing on multiple sites!!

This is a real pain as prices are based on different currencies from different catalogues. What a waste of time!!!!

How can anyone price items in Canadian dollars when all catalogues are in US dollars or euros???

I have checked for the emails sent apparently less than 2 weeks ago, and can not find anything.
Maybe the emails were not sent to all?

Why can a change be made only once a month? What is the point of this?

Why do I have to wait until July 1st to make a change?

We were warned about this happening several times in announcements on Delcampe.

I now know I was at fault for assuming my default currency was Pounds Sterling as I always listed in my own currency. But I was wrong as my billing was done in Euros so this was my default currency so everything is now listed in Euros.

I am sure something similar happened to you (theczar). We were told that all out items would default to our default currency. It should not be a major problem as all items were converted at the current exchange rate. The limitation on changing currencies I should imagine is because of the resources used in changing from one currency to another so thus limited.

    Hi Wycombe1,

    Thanks for your messages.

If you still want to change your currency but you cannot do it, just drop me an email through the contact form and I'll have a look.

    Hi theczar,

Several newsletters were sent regarding this change.
Your Delcampe account is in CAD, hence why all your ongoing listings are in CAD.
As mentioned above, buyers will continue to see your items whose prices will be converted into the currency of their choice if necessary.

    Kind regards,
    Miranda

It look as if I was able to change my default currency to Pounds Sterling. It was just a question of waiting for that facility to become active.

Lesson learned - read communications properly and don't assume anything - always check!

    Hello from Switzerland !
citation: "....Several newsletters were sent regarding this change..."
to be honest, besides of those "collectibles-newsletters" (which are annoying to me) I did not get ANY message regarding this case.

Surprise Surprise (as often).....maybe this alert warning was only sent to PRO-dealers?

my question is now: WHAT are my eventual consequences if I'll change my basic currency from Euro (as it was since 2006) to my own beloved Swiss Francs (CHF) .
Is there any danger (fee or whatever?) that I am unable to see myself?

Thanks for your advice, because I don't want to fall into a trap :pc_user2:

    Hi "Martin52",

newsletters are sent to the members that want to receive them meaning those who haven't disabled the feature in their account.
You have disabled this feature in your account. This means that you do not receive newsletters from Delcampe.
Should you wish to change this, please go to this page: Vinculo (https) and switch the "disabled" button from disabled to activated in the section "Newsletter".

There's no danger or consequence, you just need to choose if you want to remain with the EUR currency and sell in EUR and have also your fees calculated in EUR or if you want to change it to CHF.

As far as our fees are concerned, our rates can be found on this page: Vinculo (https)
In the top of the page, you can select another currency and see the prices converted into this currency.
This would give you an idea of what our commissions would be in CHF for instance.

    Regards,
    Miranda

All that sounds to be a bad joke. Wycombe1 reports, all his sales were "self-turned" into EUR, while all my sales were turned into USD.... why that???
Why not to Russian Rubles or North Korean won?
This is frustrating and will ruin declampe's reputation in the eyes of the users!
So will I have to register one account to sell in EUR and another in GBP ?
Or is it a lottery chance to obtain that or another currency of sales? :pc_user3:

You obviously did not read the Delcampe announcements about these changes, There were several spread over several months so there was plenty of time to prepare for this. In my case I did read the announcements but decided they did not apply to me as I thought my default currency was Pounds Sterling. If I would have checked instead of assuming I would not have had the problem i did.

Your sales turned to US dollars because your Delcampe store had that set as the default currency. Like me you did not check and got caught out!

The currencies used on Delcampe are easy to find and access. At the current time Russian Roubles, North Korean Won and several hundred other currencies are not supported and have never been so to make that criticism is ill founded.
