    Dear Members,

Beware of absolutely WORTHLESS forgeries sold by unscrupulous sellers. These items include military postcards, covers and aerogrammes carrying fake WWI and WWII Bulgarian cancellations on postal stationery, during the 1917-1919 and 1941-1943 occupation of parts of Romania, Greece and Serbia.

These ingeniously made forgeries include Bulgarian cancellations of Bucharest, Kavarna, Kratovo, Skopje, Kumanovo, Prechovo, Krusevo, Negotino, Kratovo, Pirot, Xanthi, and Komotini, but are not limited to these areas only as they often use non-existent fictitious names of locations.

I was also duped and purchased such items from these sellers Messrs. Levent Turkmen and Dimitar Dochev who are based in Bulgaria. Upon receiving the items I realized that I was deceived and they refunded me when I raised the alarm. They sell on well known sites under several nicknames. One of the INSOLENT nicknames they use is "bokluci" which means "garbage" in Bulgarian.

They continue to sell unscrupulously at prices ranging from $35-$230 per item!!! They are making a fortune with gullible buyers!!! Below are only some examples of their work (the system does not allow me to upload more than 3 images).

    Thanks for the information.

But how do you know they are forgeries? Is there a reference catalogue to refer to or any printed information about how to recognise genuine items?

Also have these items been listed on Delcampe?

There is no reference catalogue for such postal stationery or covers. When I exposed them, their excuse was that someone else gave them these items.

Due to my family ties with both countries, an inquiry was made at the town archives in the city of Kyustendil, Bulgaria, where it was confirmed beyond doubt that there never was a "pharmacist" with the name of "Liuben Kochev", as inscribed on some of the covers. A similar inquiry was made at the town archives of Komitini, Greece, where it was also confirmed beyond doubt that there never was a "lawyer" with the name of "Geor. I. Anastasides" as inscribed on some of the covers.

These sellers apparently have considerable amount of such forgeries, amassing a fortune selling absolutely WORTHLESS garbage.

This is valuable information - particularly as you have researched these items to prove the validity of the claim these are forged items.

But where are these items being sold - Ebay? Delcampe?

On Ebay it is very doubtful any action would be taken but Delcampe is far more pro-active against forgers and fakers.

This item is the most ridiculous of them all. On the top left hand corner of the supposed cover it says in Bulgarian: Macedonia, Thrace and Moravia!!!

Believe it or not...Moravia????? This is a region in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. Bulgaria could not access that territory located in central Europe, at any time, even in its wildest dreams ;););)

Would the Bulgarian authorities take action against these crooks?

Is the a Bulgarian Philatelic Society who would have an interest in seeing these cheats were stopped?

A ridiculously perfect creation... the seller has the audacity to ask $400 for this FORGERY that cost him only a few cents to make at home on a printer and affixing stamp of negligible value!!!
