Nice idea for a thread, Jerry - let's hope it doesn't get sidetracked or abused!

    Any idea on these?

I'm guessing they're from contract notes or something?

    Value?

Great, I have some interesting revenues but know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about them.
    Here goes. Number 1.
Eritrea, any idea of catalogue value?

New Zealand. I believe this has a fiscal cancellation. If postally used cats £1400...how much with Fiscal?

    Number 3.
Again New Zealand. A note with this stamp mentions a value of £300. Does that sound right? Do perfins affect value like with postage stamps?

Finally tonight, not wanting to be boring....Basutoland. The previous owners note suggests Barefoot 64, value £200.

During my time as President of our local Philatelic Society one of our guest speakers brought a display of Cinderellas, and it was one of the most interesting and entertaining displays of the season, covering many aspects of the theme

Although I don't collect them myself I don't dismiss them out of hand as uninteresting either

According to the 2010 edition of the Kiwi catalogue of NZ revenue & Railway Stamps, the £600 orange catalogues at NZ$650 unperfinned (c. £300) and NZ$300 perfinned / punched (c. £150)

Yes, this is a fiscal cancellation, and catalogues ( NZ cat. as before) NZ$120 unperfinned, (c. £60) or NZ$30 (c. £15) perfinned / punched

It will be very interesting to see what happens with revenues now that, for the first time in many years, Stanley Gibbons are now listing Telegraph stamps in the new (2013 edition) of their Commonwealth & Empire Stamps catalogue (Part 1)

That's really kind of you to let me know the values. I will be listing all these on Delcampe in due course.

I think the two items here have postal cancellations. Were all NZ fiscal cancels the same (as in the previous items?).

Thanks again for the info. I have also come across this item. I assume it is more cinderella than revenue. I can find no reference anywhere to this particular label. Do you think it is WWII or perhaps in the struggle with the Tamils?

Yes, Steve Hiscocks is a great loss, I even sold him some complete Ceylon Telegraphs a few years ago. Revenues, certainly on the British area front, are now a lot better served than before. John Barefoot has brought out a new Commonwealth revenues catalogue, and that with the SG, means revenue collectors can be much better informed.

    Hi,

I reckon both of these ARE postal cancellations. The revenue cancellations are usually similar to the postal cancellations, but generally are clearer, will say revenue or stamp duty where the PO name would otherwise be, and generally have a smaller font in the lettering. The 2013 SG Part 1 catalogues the £2 and £4, but depends on the watermark
