Well - Geez - I didn't make any decision for anyone else.

The lesser point is simple - the $, Euro or dinero amount was negligible. Period.

The greater point was about PayPal and some "practices" that they do.

I was speaking for myself, not anyone else.

    Hi Delboy,

I owe you still an answer on your question concerning the Dutch prices and the change of 0,01 you don't get back. :znaika:

It is simple. The small pieces of 0,01 and 0,02 Euro are not used when you pay cash. It is generally agreed for all stores that if the total amount ends on an 8 or a 9 the total amount will be graded up to the next equivalent of five.
If the total sum ends on a 7 or a 6 the total amount will be reduced to the lower equivalent of five. The same for 3 and 4 and 1 and 2

So buying 1 piece of 0,99 you pays 1,00.
2 pieces makes 1,98 but you pays 2,00
3 pieces makes 2,97 but you have to pay 2,95

A few stores don't use these 'rules' f.e. the (German) Aldi supermarket. There you still get your 0,01 or 0,02 in return but also you have to pay there 2,97 instead of 2,95. :applause:

If you pay by check you have to pay the exact amount.

    Best regards,

You sir, simply seem to be attempting to start some argument, of which I will not play at the moment.

I supported the person "muleskinner" in the posting. If you don't like the part about the $2.50 being unimportant, I guess that's just too bad for you. Please take your sour grapes elsewhere...

...OR... are you the proverbial guardian of the delcampe FORUM?

If you take offense to something REAL, bring it up. If it's some meandering around the European landscape, then drop it. I know the main server is in Belgium. There are servers in other countries as well as the US of A, if not mistaken.

"Europe is very diverse, but there is a tendency for Americans to try to make it more uniform with their Macdonalds, their films, their many websites, and countless other influences ." Sounds, sure as eggs is eggs as a judgment to me.

    (Pssst - McDonalds)

You, sir, are advancing the argument. If you wish, we can carry this on for a long time, but I don't think that will do either of us any good.

    And I mis-spelled on perposs.

I am not your American punk child that is undereducated, underachiever with gang associations and smokes crack.

And, if you really want to get into it, I have some larger ammunition to bring to the table.

But, as I mentioned, I suggest we drop it now.

I don't believe I am reading this. You really are the lowest of the low.
Grotekers makes the effort to explain something to you and instead of just thanking him for his time, you have the guts to "correct" his English.
How many people have pointed out to you that that is not the thing to do???

"Just because it is unimportant for you, you can't assume it is unimportant for someone else. "

Re-read my post. It READS --- I --- would be embarrassed. You ASSumed I was making fun of him. I was not. I realize that everyone here has a brain and a mind of their own to choose whatever action they decide to do.

The American thing has your panties in a bunch, I see. "for us, against us" and all of that tripe.

I guess it has been too long to remember the 101st Airborne in Bastogne, the remnants of divisions of light arms fighting Panzers in the Ardennes, those killed in Malmedy simply for being a US soldier and a man named Patton who raced on the double quick to save the holding in and around Bastogne. And this was all before my ancestors were to fight our war in the Pacific. Yes, the Brits liberated Brussels...

I guess you forgot lend-lease and plenty of other things American during that time, like fixing the port of Antwerp perchance?

No Delboy, we are not black and white. We have plenty shades of gray. Objectivity comes with dealing with both sides, not stating a point and saying it is objective. Fact comes from actual experience and data, not from sound bytes on a local TV channel.

One final thought - how come I don't have any arguments with others here on delcampe? There is a mutual respect and I attempt at translating with simple, proper English into another fellow's language. But, you already know that because you seem to be omniscient around here.

Now, what do you do here again?

"how come I don't have any arguments with others here on delcampe? There is a mutual respect"

Nobody else has problems with other Delcampers, just with Delboy. Since I have been around on the forums (end of 2008), I have never seen a single argument here - just helpful, respectful posts. However since April this year with the arrival of Delboy this has all changed, because in his own words: "So you don't think we should be argumentative. What is the use of a forum which is not argumentative ? Forums are for debating things on. That 's what they are." This quote can be found here: Link (http)

Maybe the fact that I am Dutch and English is my 3rd language, means that I have always misunderstood the word forum , but I always thought that a forum was a place to seek/give advice and discuss things in a friendly manner - not a place to troll around and belittle/insult one member after the other.

He has also made it clear that he has no intention of observing the Delcampe forum etiquette: Link (http)

I sell on 2 other auction sites and I know for a fact, that he would have been long gone from both of those sites - and there are several other forum users here who can confirm this.

Maybe that's the downside of being on a site, where the owners' native language is not English and they may not be fully aware of what is going on and not realize that it's actually damaging for the site itself.

Another instance of reading what isn't said. Did I mention Ebay? Auction site does not equal Ebay, but Ebay equals auction site.

What you do outside this forum is your business, but here on the forum at least 3 different people have told you not to criticise people for their language skills.

I don't know where you get the idea from that I am in charge, but feel free to leave the forums for a while; in fact don't bother coming back. You, aiming at mutual respect???? Do you actually know what the word means?

As far as what forums are for; I think you've answered your own question - a place for open discussion. If you want to use the word debate, fine with me.
Discussion and/or debate however does not mean calling people names or criticising them for language mistakes or belittling them in any other way and the debate/discussion should remain within the topic set.

I often watch the debates in the House of Commons, now I have never seen in the middle of a discussion about railways (for example) someone suddenly interrupting and calling another person a racist or telling them that they have mis-pronounced a word.

...and you're obfuscating your stance on the USA and Americans. It is quite obvious to me, from your writings, that you have a broomstick up your behind about the USA.

I would gladly mention ALL of those wonderful heroes that fought to keep this world a better place. I don't have a gripe with specific nations. They can all have my kudos. There's not enough time nor space to write this and given your -supposed level- of intellect, one would ASSume that you thought I was including them.

I would even go so far as giving the Germans some kudos and the Russians as well, considering that they had to put up with Little Napoleons.

You, sir, on the other hand, seem to want to brow beat anything that may even be suspicious along the way. Then, graciously, as if giving forgiveness from on high, to 2 other delcampe members. I still remember your French Colonies tirade a while back. Sort of ignorant, to say the least.

You took an innocuous statement and turned it into some kind of "stance" of Euro vs. others, which includes Americans through the use of language. Go to a language newsgroup or gathering if that's your "thing".

Sir - you don't know me. You cannot make an objective opinion on me. You can only nit pick and play silly obscure word games to try to get people's dander up. It's not a debate when the outcome has been planned well before the discussion begins.

Now - if you want to discuss something relevant, please do so. Otherwise, soon enough you'll be talking to yourself.

You still haven't answered what you are doing on delcampe. Can you? Will you?

    Let's see...

You still haven't answered what you are doing on delcampe. Can you? Will you?

    Let's see...
