    Hi all,

    As promised, we keep you informed of the progress of our analysis about Cinderella Stamps.

    First, it should be clear that the Cinderellas are defined primarily by what they are not! These are labels not issued by a postal authority, instead of postage stamps.

    We split the Cinderellas in two broad categories;
    - The fictitious modern prints sold to philatelists (especially thematics)
    - Other (revenue stamps, exhibitions, tourism promotion, charity, etc..)

    The first of these two broad categories concerns us most. We sub-categorize as follows:
    - Design including the name of a territory (country, region) that has never existed;
    - Design including the name of a territory (country, region) that exists or has existed, but has never issued stamps;
    - Design showing the name of a territory (country, region) that exists or has existed, and which has issued stamps.

    The trouble about them is mainly:
    - That they can be sold without the buyer being aware that these are not postage stamps;
    - They can go against the rights of individuals, countries, companies or organizations in general (use of logos, names of countries, drawings, etc..).

    Here's what we plan, to regulate the sale of these cinderellas:
    - For all: the seller must write "CINDERELLA" in block letters, as first word of the title, and place the sale in a new category "Stamps > Themes > Modern Cinderellas" to the exclusion of all others.
    - For those violating the rights of others, they are clearly forbidden and we prepare a program of protection of rights on our site (even in a system beyond the limits of Cinderella).

    We believe that these decisions are sound and will allow all, for or against the (legal) Cinderella's, continue to find their happiness on our site.

    Thank you in advance for your feedback.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Sebastian,

    I can understand that you have difficulty classifying so called cinderella stamps but would wish to put forward an argument against one of the groups you intend to include - revenue stamps.

    Many if not all revenue stamps, certainly in GB and the British Commonwealth area are OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT issues to collect state revenues, not pretty tourism labels or other labels of private companies. Again most if not all of these revenues were printed by Government or State printers or provate companies under Government contract. Indeed many postage stamps of GB and Commonwealth act for both postage and revenue purposes, so it is in many instances very dificult to tell from a used stamp which purpose it was put to, unless with sometimes detailed study of a cancellation.

    I don't know about other countries but would have thought issues such as the US 'Duck' stamps would be similar.

    I believe that revenues should be classifies as a sub-section of postage stamps rather than under a Cinderella tag.

    Hello,

    Revenue stamps are not postage stamps... but they are not a problem at all !

    I just quoted them because they are part of cinderella's... and only another part of cinderella's is causing some problems. So, do not worry for Revenue Stamps, these wonderful stamps have their place on our site :wink2:

    Congratulations!

    A great move. Many thanks.

    However I don´t know if you meant:
    "Stamps > Themes > Modern Cinderellas"
    or
    "Stamps > Topics > Modern Cinderellas"

    Why Themes or (Topics)?

    Why not a head category at:
    Link (http) - -
    as:
    ________________________
    Cinderellas>subcategories
    Labels, not postage stamps.
    ________________________

    With a small text "Labels, not postage stamps." as above.
    Everyone does not know what CINDERELLA is and as all
    cinderellas will still look like postage stamps it is justified
    with an explanation as a great help for everyone as well.

    Indeed perfect to have them at the stamp section so all can
    take notice easily and learn what is a postage stamp and not.

    Again, a great move, almost magic, many thanks.
