Never a family member, but I have a stack of postcards all addressed to the same lady in my own town.

The name of the building didn't mean anything to me, so I asked my neighbour.
He recognized the person instantly as being his old primary school teacher.

Well this is neither someONE nor a postcard, but its's somePLACE and much older than the other stories here... A couple of years ago I had aqcuired a small lot of old German letters or wrappers (folded sheets covering a letter), most with addressees in the small Saxony town of Geithein. I kept the oldest from 1752 but sold off the rest individually. The oldest of these was a wrapper postmarked in the nearby small town of COLDITZ on 12 FEB 18 (that is 1818). It sold for 30 euros or so, and I was happy to see that the buyer had an address in Geitheinerstraße, 04680 COLDITZ. :) So this wrapper came back to the town it had been sent from after 185+ years! :D
