    Hello All,
I've come across this real photo postcard of unknown town from the World War I era. There's no markings on the front of the postcard and the town is throughly destroyed. The back of the postcard has some pencil markings, but I cannot read it. Can anyone read it as I'm sure it's the clue to the location.
    Thanks, Will

    Hi,

The writing looks like Old German Gothic script - and I think it reads Flensburg - a town in northern Germany

    Hello,

The writing can be read as:

    Warneton in Flandern 1917.

Warneton (in Dutch: Waasten) is a village that belonged to the Belgian province of West-Flanders during World War I. In the 1960's Warneton has been transferred to the province of Hainaut.

    Sincerely,

    Quasar

Thanks for the help! I just need more and more practice trying to read old handwriting.
    Best regards, Will
