AUSTRALIAN QUERY

    Hi there

I am looking for some help with the 2006 "Stamp Collecting Month: Dangerous Australians" issue, SG 2710-2715, in particular the variants of the self adhesive issues.

I see that the White Shark, Eastern Brown Snake and Box Jellyfish stamps are listed in the 10th Edition 2016 of the Stanley Gibbons (SG) Australian catalogue as having differences in the amount of the phosphor cover over the face of the stamp depending on whether they are from coils or booklets. The values shown by SG are similar, so I'm assuming that the variants are fairly common.

I have been trying to obtain copies of the stamps with the phosphor cover over the face values or over the "S" of Snake for several years, without success. I see that the variants that I am looking for are only listed in the SG catalogue and apparently not in the other big four catalogues, i.e. Michel, Scott and Yvert et Tellier, so am beginning to wonder if they actually exist of if there is an error in the SG catalogue (which is not unknown).

I've tried looking at the phosphors under both of my long and short wave UV lamps but they do not fluoresce and the phosphor is only visible (to me) when the stamp is held up to the light.

I'll be grateful if anyone confirm (or otherwise) whether these three variants actually exist please. Alternatively, can you suggest where else I might seek clarification of this issue please?

    Regards and TIA

    Phil

There are many variants of this issue. They are not clearly shown in other than Australian Specialist Catalogues.

You may also ask your question on stampboards.com, or view images on stampmall.com.au

Variants are Sheet Stamps, Prestige Booklet and different format panes, Special edition sheetlet, peel & stick coils, Peel and stick booklets, single values and mixed booklet.

Many thanks for the response stampmail. I did post the question on both Stampboards and Colnect but got no replies. I will have to keep looking for these variants. :-)
