The PAQUEBOT(S) stamps were not used on the Ocean where the cancel did bear the "name of the ship + Haute Mer (high sea) + the DATE. The PAQUEBOT(S) cancels were used on the passenger ships on the GREAT LAKES. For local use the rate did never exceed 1 Fr. The date of cancelation never appears and these stamps did travel and are for this reason without gum. Look at the specific "Q" sign used with two strikes at the bottom.

Les timbres PAQUEBOT(S) n'étaient pas utilisés par les bateaux voyageant entre l'Europe et l'Afrique. Ceux-ci portaient la mention "Haute Mer + date + nom du navire". Les timbres portant le cachet PAQUEBOT(S) étaient utiisés sur bateaux navigant sur les "GRANDS LACS". Le nom de paquebot est donc quelque peu abusif. Ces timbres ont effectivement voyagé même s'ils ne portent pas de date. Pour cette raison ces timbres sont sans gomme et ils ont une lettre "Q" avec deux barres en dessous. Ces timbres ne comportent pas de valeur excédant 1 FR. de part l'usage "régional".
