in Hoch auf die Druckgrafik: Seit 75 Jahren fördert die Edition VFO (Verein für Originalgraphik) druckgrafische Werke. Zeit für eine Jubiläumsmarke über eine Ausdrucksform, die einen Teil der Schweizer Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte prägt. Seit 1948 setzt sich der gemeinnützige Kunstverein und Verlag für Druckgrafik für die Verbreitung von zeitgenössischer Kunst zu günstigen Bedingungen ein und ist heute der grösste Editionsverlag der Schweiz. Das Ziel: die Förderung traditioneller und moderner Drucktechniken und Ateliers. Nebst dem Austausch bietet er Kunstschaffenden aus der ganzen Schweiz Impulse für einen innovativen und spielerischen Umgang mit den meist aufwändigen Druckverfahren. Doch die Kunstform soll nicht nur gepflegt, sondern auch vermittelt werden. So sind die Werke aufgrund der erschwinglichen Preise einem breiten Publikum zugänglich. Im aktuellen Jubiläumsjahr möchte der Verein zeigen, dass Druck keine Reproduktion ist, sondern eine eigenständige Ausdrucksform, wie etwa die Malerei oder Fotografie. Dieses Anliegen soll die Lancierung der Jubiläumsmarke unterstreichen. Der Sonderblock ist das Werk von Rebekka Steiger. Dafür wählte die 30-Jährige ein vertrautes Motiv: «Reiter und Reiterinnen begleiten mich seit Beginn meiner künstlerischen Tätigkeit. Sie prägten auch die erste Edition, die ich in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Verein entwickelte. Daher schien es mir passend. » Um das Thema Druckkunst zur Geltung kommen zu lassen, war ihr wichtig, dass die unverkennbaren Spuren des Druckprozesses sichtbar sind. Auch hat sie etwas vom bedruckten Papier drum herum stehen gelassen mit der Begründung: «Die unregelmässigen Ränder gehören für mich dazu, weil sie den Bildern das Spielerische und Dynamische geben, die dieser Drucktechnik (der Lithografie) eigen sind.».

Un hommage à l’impression graphique: l’association Edition VFO (Verein für Originalgraphik) s’attache à promouvoir les œuvres graphiques depuis 75 ans. Il était temps d’émettre un timbre-poste célébrant une forme d’expression visuelle qui fait partie de l’histoire artistique et culturelle de la Suisse. Depuis 1948, cette association artistique d’utilité publique et maison d’édition d’œuvres graphiques se mobilise pour mettre l’art contemporain à la portée du plus grand nombre. Elle est aujourd’hui l’une des principales maisons d’édition de Suisse. Avec pour objectif de promouvoir les procédés d’impression et ateliers traditionnels et modernes, elle encourage les échanges et offre aux artistes de tout le pays des possibilités d’appliquer une approche innovante et ludique dans leur recours aux techniques d’impression souvent complexes et coûteuses. Dans ce cadre, elle entend non seulement cultiver cette forme artistique, mais aussi la diffuser, en veillant à ce que les œuvres soient d’un prix accessible à un vaste public. À l’occasion de cet anniversaire, l’association souhaite montrer que l’impression n’est pas une reproduction, mais bien une forme d’art à part entière, comme la peinture ou la photographie. Le lancement du timbre commémoratif correspond à une volonté de soutenir cette démarche. Le bloc spécial est le fruit du travail de Rebekka Steiger, qui a choisi un motif lui étant familier: «Des cavalières et cavaliers m’accompagnent depuis le début de mon activité artistique, en ayant aussi été au cœur de la première édition, que j’ai développée en collaboration avec l’association. Il m’a donc semblé opportun de reprendre ce sujet». Pour mettre en lumière la thématique de l’art de l’impression, la trentenaire a tenu à bien faire ressortir les marques spécifiquement liées à cette technique. Elle a aussi laissé un peu du papier imprimé sur le pourtour car, à ses yeux, les bords irréguliers font partie de l’œuvre en lui conférant le rendu ludique et dynamique qui est propre à cette technique (la lithographie).

Viva la stampa d’arte: da 75 anni l’associazione Edition VFO (Verein für Originalgraphik) promuove le opere grafiche stampate. Non c’è niente di meglio di un francobollo commemorativo per celebrare una forma espressiva che è parte della storia artistica e culturale della Svizzera. L’associazione artistica di pubblica utilità ed editrice di stampa d’arte si impegna dal 1948 a favore della diffusione dell’arte contemporanea a condizioni vantaggiose ed è oggi la più grande editrice della Svizzera in questo ambito. Il suo obiettivo è promuovere gli atelier e le tecniche di stampa sia tradizionali sia moderni. Oltre a questo impegno, offre ad artiste e artisti da tutta la Svizzera sostegno per un rapporto innovativo e giocoso con le tecniche di stampa solitamente complesse. E poiché l’arte non va solo tutelata, ma anche diffusa, le sue opere hanno prezzi convenienti che le rendono accessibili al grande pubblico. In occasione di questo anniversario l’associazione vorrebbe dimostrare che la stampa non è una riproduzione, bensì una forma d’arte a sé stante, proprio come la pittura o la fotografia. Il lancio del francobollo commemorativo vuole sottolineare questo punto di vista. Il blocco speciale è opera di Rebekka Steiger. Per realizzarlo, l’artista trentenne ha scelto un motivo a lei familiare: «Le immagini di uomini e donne a cavallo accompagnano il mio intero percorso artistico sin dagli albori. Erano presenti anche nella prima edizione che ho elaborato in collaborazione con l’associazione, perciò mi è sembrata una scelta adatta». Per celebrare a dovere l’arte stampata, l’artista ha ritenuto importante far risaltare le tracce tipiche del processo di stampa. Ha anche lasciato un po’ di carta stampata tutto attorno, motivando così la scelta: «Ho incluso i margini irregolari perché conferiscono alle immagini quell’aspetto giocoso e dinamico tipico di questa tecnica di stampa (la litografia)».

Celebrating printed graphics: Edition VFO (association for original prints) has been promoting graphic works for 75 years. Time for an anniversary stamp about a form of expression that has shaped part of Swiss art and cultural history. Since 1948, this non-profit art association and publisher of prints, now Switzerland’s largest edition publisher, has been committed to the diffusion of contemporary art at affordable prices. The goal is to promote traditional and modern printing techniques and studios. In addition to the exchange of ideas, the association offers artists from all over Switzerland ideas for an innovative and playful approach to usually complex printing processes. But the aim is not only to cultivate the art form, but also to convey it. Thanks to their affordable prices, the works are therefore accessible to a broad public. In the current anniversary year, the association is looking to show that printing is not a reproduction, but a form of expression in its own right, in the same way as painting or photography. The launch of the commemorative stamp is intended to highlight this issue. The miniature sheet is the work of Rebekka Steiger. The 30-year-old chose a familiar subject: “Riders have been with me since I started working as an artist. They were one of the hallmarks of the first edition I developed in collaboration with the association. So it seemed fitting to me.” In an effort to highlight the subject of print as an art form, it was important to her for the unmistakable traces of the printing process to be visible. She also left some of the printed paper in place around it, explaining: “For me, the irregular edges are part of it, because they give the images the playfulness and dynamism that are inherent in this printing technique (lithography).”
