Zu seinem 100. Geburtstag beschenkt sich der «Verein Schweizerischer Archivarinnen und Archivare» (VSA) mit einem beispielhaften, auf säurefreiem Papier gedruckten und deshalb beständigen Dokument: einer Briefmarke. Sie zeigt eine sitzende Helvetia. Diese Helvetia ist allerdings längst im digitalen Zeitalter angekommen, wie die Diskette und die Cloud im Hintergrund belegen. Sie ist somit ein Sinnbild für moderne Archive. Der 1922 in Lenzburg gegründete VSA repräsentiert Archivarinnen und Archivare, Records Manager und Informationsfachleute. Als nationaler Berufsverband unterstützt er die Zusammenarbeit der professionellen Archive und das Ziel, den Zugang zum Archivgut benutzungsfreundlich zu gestalten. Er ist wesentlich mitverantwortlich für die Gestaltung der Informationsgesellschaft in der Schweiz. Archive sind heute in der Regel hybrid, beinhalten also sowohl analoge wie auch digitale Originale und Unikate, die rechtlich, historisch oder wissenschaftlich bedeutsam sind. Sie sorgen so für Nachvollziehbarkeit und sichern das Gedächtnis von Staaten, Firmen, Institutionen und Personen. Von grossem Nutzen sind Archive beispielsweise für Wissenschaft, Journalismus, Heimatforschung oder Genealogie – und nicht zuletzt für die Philatelie.

À l’occasion de son 100e anniversaire, l’«Asssociation des archivistes suisses» (AAS) s’offre un document représentatif, imprimé sur du papier exempt d’acide afin d’en garantir la durabilité: un timbre-poste montrant une Helvetia assise. Cette Helvetia est toutefois entrée dans l’ère du numérique, illustrée par la disquette et le cloud à l’arrière-plan, et symbolise ainsi les archives modernes. Fondée à Lenzbourg en 1922, l’AAS représente les archivistes, les gestionnaires de documents et les professionnels de l’information. En sa qualité d’association professionnelle nationale, elle s’attache à promouvoir la collaboration entre les services d’archives professionnels, en ayant pour objectif de faciliter l’accès aux archives. Ce faisant, elle joue un rôle clé dans l’organisation de la société de l’information en Suisse. Aujourd’hui, les archives sont généralement hybrides. Elles contiennent des originaux et des pièces uniques aux formats analogique et numérique, d’une grande valeur juridique, historique ou scientifique. Elles témoignent ainsi du passé en préservant la mémoire des États, des entreprises, des institutions et des personnes. Les archives sont par exemple d’une grande utilité pour la science, le journalisme, la recherche historique ou la généalogie, sans oublier bien sûr la philatélie.

Per il suo 100º anniversario l’«Associazione degli archivisti svizzeri» (AAS) si regala un documento figurativo, stampato su carta priva di acidi e pertanto durevole: un francobollo che raffigura l’Helvetia seduta. Qui l’Helvetia è ormai entrata nell’era digitale, come dimostrano il floppy disk e il cloud sullo sfondo, e simboleggia quindi gli archivi moderni. L’AAS, fondata a Lenzburg nel 1922, rappresenta archiviste e archivisti, record manager e specialisti dell’informazione. L’associazione professionale nazionale promuove la collaborazione tra gli archivi professionali al fine di rendere più agevole l’accesso al materiale conservato. Sostanzialmente è corresponsabile della configurazione della società dell’informazione in Svizzera. Oggigiorno gli archivi sono di norma ibridi e custodiscono copie originali e pezzi unici di grande valore legale, storico o scientifico, in formato analogico o digitale, garantendone così la tracciabilità e preservando la memoria di stati, aziende, istituzioni e persone. Gli archivi sono fondamentali ad esempio per il settore scientifico, il giornalismo, la storia locale o la genealogia, e non da ultimo per la filatelia.

To mark its 100th birthday, the Association of Swiss Archivists (VSA) is being honoured with an exemplary document that, because it is printed on acid-free paper, will truly stand the test of time: a stamp. It depicts a seated Helvetia. However, this Helvetia has long since arrived in the digital age, as can be seen from the floppy disk and the cloud in the background – making it an apt symbol of the modern archive. Founded in Lenzburg in 1922, the Association of Swiss Archivists represents archivists, record managers and information professionals. As a national body, it supports collaboration between professional archives and aims to ensure user-friendly access to archive material. It is largely responsible for shaping the information society in Switzerland. Archives today are generally hybrid, containing both analogue and digital originals and unique items of legal, historical and scientific significance. They provide for transparency and understanding, safeguarding the memory of nations, companies, institutions and individuals. Archives are of great use in fields such as science, journalism, research into local history and genealogy – and indeed also philately.
