Negative feedbacks for refunded items

I have found several buyers posting negative feedbacks for items not available,or damaged. These items were refunded
Iassume a refunded item is a null and void sale. Is it reasonal to expect a negative feedback?

One of the hazards of on-line trading I'm afraid. Some buyers get extremely upset when an item they have purchased is no longer available for some reason beyond your control - so they react with a negative because, in their eyes, you have not kept to your side of the deal.
One refunded I move on as it is not worth the time and effort getting upset about it.

    Hi Tris,
If I may ask , when this happens , it always concerns when only 1 item has been sold and there has been NO payment for whatever reason ? ( item not found, item refunded, etc)
If so, then it is because these people can't archive these sales unless they have given the seller a feedback...
The options given for archiving are ; 0 or 25 %, what many however do not know is that you can also simply give a reply in the ' only comment' section, a comment ; f.e. item not found , item refunded, etc...
without the need of giving negative feedback... only many do not know this.
The downside is that once customers have given you the 0 or 25 % it is an enormous procedure to reverse this... and it is the customer who has to take the initiative to write to Delcampe with the question to reverse this... and many don't take the trouble to do this... I've asked one customer once to please adjust his quotation and his answer was that I was nit-picking ! :o So since then I dropped the question...
Voilà , hope to have been of some help, if you suspect this is the reason why you've been given negative feedbacks as well then now at least you know the reason why... :-)
A tip ; If in future you have an item you can't find or a sale that has been cancelled maybe it is a good idea to mention in a message that there is the option of archiving the cancelled sale without giving the negative feedback.
    Lots of success !
    Greetings
    Karina

When, occasionally, I don't have the item ordered. I explain to the buyer, and if I have something similar (or something I think they might be interested in) I give them the choice of the alternative for the same price (even if the alternative was originally priced slightly higher), or a refund.

The question still remains...does a refunded item which is no longer available, deserve a negative feedback?
Is it a justified or not? If it is justified...why?

As a seller, I know that things don't always go smoothly, and sometimes offering a refund is the only option. Some buyers understand the reason and leave neutral feedback, others may leave negative feedback.

From a buyer's perspective, if the buyer doesn't receive what he paid for, for whatever reason, he has the right to leave negative feedback. Even if the item is eventually refunded, the buyer doesn't lose money, but may have wasted time.

Whether leaving negative feedback is justified in this case is up to the buyer. Personally, I would never leave negative feedback if an item is refunded. I agree with wycombe1, if you have done your best, it is not worth the time and effort getting too upset about it.
