Skrill, gateway usage fee

    Am i wasting my time emailing Skrill asking why the $15 approx i had in my account with them was taken for Gateway usage fees ? I dont really want to be phoning them from Australia as i understand they keep you hanging on forever so it wouldnt be a viable option. Very few customers use Skrill and i only use it to pay my Delcampe fees. Any advice would be appreciated.

    This problem came up last year. Just scroll down to the Gateway fee topics in October & December 2013. I thought that the problem had been resolved and seems to only apply to anyone that Skrill seem to think is a business - no charge for personal accounts & possibly something to do with ebay linking.

    This problem came up last year. Just scroll down to the Gateway fee topics in October & December 2013. I thought that the problem had been resolved and seems to only apply to anyone that Skrill seem to think is a business - no charge for personal accounts & possibly something to do with ebay linking.

    Thank you for your prompt reply, just seems strange if it happened over 6 months ago that it is still happening. I did read those comments from earlier and it seems that i am just wasting my time trying to get in touch with them by email. I will just forget the $15 and not use them again, thank you again.

    If you stop using them (which is what I did, when those problems occurred), don't forget to close your account with them, they also make a charge for accounts that have been dormant for a certain amount of time - I think it is 12 or 18 months.

    The gateway usage fee is probably nothing to do with Delcampe - it is a fee imposed by Skrill on anyone they consider is a business.

    Check your Skrill registration details and make sure that your Skrill account is not also linked to ebay or any other auction site.

    As others have said.....if all else fails, close your Skrill account.

    If you registered with Skrill as a business, you will pay the gateway fee. Re-register with Skrill as a private individual and you will not pay the gateway fee.

    All my skrill receipts go through the Delcampe e-wallet but I am registered as private, not business, so I do not pay the fee....

It happened to me and i dont recall being asked if i was a business when i opened an account with them. I think they are a real shonky outfit and i wouldnt trust them as far as i can throw a bull.

    It seems nobody knows what type of account they have with Skrill until they receive the gateway fee. It happened to me and i dont recall being asked if i was a business when i opened an account with them. I think they are a real shonky outfit and i wouldnt trust them as far as i can throw a bull.

    Skrill have their own parameters as to who they classify as "business".

    However, the Skrill gateway fee "applies to all Skrill business accounts except those merchants who are referred by partners" - direct quote from Skrill rules.

    Delcampe is a partner so the gateway fee is not payable by any member receiving money via the Delcampe e-wallet.

    You should complain direct to Skrill and use the quote above as your reference. Also complain to Delcampe.

    This problem arose last year too and Delcampe had a staff member who dealt with Skrill incorrect charges. I believe the errors arose after the original 'moneybookers' was sold to an equity funding outfit and they changed its name to the ridiculous 'skrill'
