How does a fee on sold items reduce the number of 'junk' items--over-priced, common, damaged--which have not sold, do not sell, will not ever sell?

I totally agree with your comments. Delcampe need to seriously get a grip (prendre le taureau par les cornes) on their site and do what needs to be done.

Although I'm not in competition with sellers of 5 cents and 10 cents stamps, I understand the frustration of buyers having to search through mountains of identical stamps.

I have suggested to Delcampe to exempt Gold club members from the extra
18 cents surcharge to each lot sold. I hope they will take my suggestion into
consideration. At 60,00 $ a year (5,00 $ a month) with 1000 items in my store, that would be half a cent a month per lot, less if I have more in my store.

I have noticed that some buyers are so used to buying at extremely low prices that I regularly get buyers offering to buy at half my listed prices, which are already very reasonable.

Collecting is a hobby. Selling is not.

Sorry I'm not agree with you,but not going to argue as eveybody has his own point of view.
What is really suprise me,that you have less than 10 feedback for 2012.So it looks like new fees not going to hurt you much.
Also if you like listing fees, why do not use ebay ?

Delcampe need to do a lot of work in order to have a better, more pleasant site for buyer's searches.

The problem is there are no listing fees, thus encouraging the listing of hundreds of thousands if not millions of cheap stamps.

    One example: Sale of 6 stamps, total 0,18 € (4 x 0.02 + 1 x .06 + 1 x .04)
    Selling commission for Delcampe 5,5% = .0099 €

    Another: sale of 3 stamps, total 0,30 € - commission for Delcampe: .0165 €
I understand perfectly that Delcampe cannot operate under those conditions.

What is the solution? Obviously, having a selling surcharge of 0,15 € per item will have no effect if the article does not sell.

Could a small monthly listing fee (0,02 € per item) together with a minimum selling price of 0,10 € have the desired effect?

Having the possibility to relist 99 x 28 should be removed. That's almost 8 years.

A store owner who has not visited or added to his store in 6 months should be contacted to find out what his intentions are.

I could go on and on.

I can only speak for the stamp category. A lot of the clutter on the site is caused by a number of sellers who list large numbers of stamps with the same catalogue number which Delcampe unfortunately regards as different just because they are used.
If the number of stamps with the same catalogue number which a seller was allowed to list was reduced the clutter would be less. I would suggest no more than 2 or 3 especially for stamps priced less than 50p (0.65€, 0.80$).
I agree that 99 x 28days should be withdrawn. A limit of one year of automatic relisting would be realistic, although I have sold stamps which have been listed longer than that. This one year could be 52 x 7days or 13 x 28days.
Sellers who have items listed and have not logged onto Delcampe for three months should have these items withdrawn.
Buyers wanting higher priced stamps should rearrange their searches so that highest priced items are listed first.
These measures would reduce the clutter. To solve the cash problems Delcampe should increase the final selling fee by 0.5% or 1%. This increase could be waived for Gold members (I am not one so this would not benefit me personally).
This is how Delcampe could live up to its original intention to be a site for all collectors.

Here is what I wrote, to reduce the listing of the huge quantity of cheap items that have no hope of ever selling:

Obviously, having a selling surcharge of 0,15 € per item will have no effect if the article does not sell.

Could a small monthly listing fee (0,02 € per item) together with a minimum selling price of 0,10 € have the desired effect?
(Which is to unclutter the site.I don't beleive so.)

There are thousands and thousands of stamps with a selling price of
    0,02 0,03 and 0.05 € cluttering up the site.
Will sellers want to pay a 0,02 € monthly fee to sell a 0,02 or 0,05 € stamp? The answer is quite obvious.

Someone mentionned a listing fee of 0,01 € a month. For a stamps priced at 0,03 € that does not sell, that would mean 0,12 € at the end of the year. Let the sellers do the math.

How about abuser who list expensive items ?
A tiny listing fee will not resolve a problem.
Have just reported one ,not 1st time by the way.
Thee is a seller who sells mostly postcards on Delcampe ,Ebay and other sites. He has some rare postcards ,as well as a lot of common cards.Everything is hugely overpriced (5-10 times more than similar items everywhere) a lot of duplicate listings maybe even up to half of his stock on Delcampe (about 100.000!!! cards)
.He has not only dulicate listing on Delcampe, but as well as on ebay (where he has under different names and from different countries) and other auction.
I can see the same card on at least 3 online auctions and with duplicate listing most of cards on 5 or more auctions in the same time.
Not sure how he deals, when two people buying the same card on different auction, but it's not probably happening much thanks to his prices.
Do you really think, that such a person would care much about tiny listing fee ?
Probably not.The problem is that Delcampe is not doing much about such sellers, even after reports.
In my opinion introduction of fixed fee is a huge mistake,as it will not solve the problems but just add to cost of selling. Also it's driving many sellers and buyers away.Fixed fee for items sold under $10.00 should be eliminated.D. can also add a bit to FVF is they need more $ to run a site.
Anyway,as for now,I think there is nothing to discuss as damage is already done.
Also it looks like just a beginning and more "good' changes will come.
In the same time many problems will be no resolved.

"I wonder how many here besides me would be willing to pay 1c a month in listing fees?"

I would be willing to pay a very small listing fee but I think it should only be charged on first listing not every month. I frequently sell stamps which have been listed for months. Either buyers see something I have just listed and look at my shop to see what else I have for sale or there is a new buyer. Far better to restrict the number of stamps with the same catalogue number listed by a seller and also to remove listings from sellers who have not logged onto Delcampe for a certain (I suggest 3 months)
One problem that I can see is that this site is international. 1c (USA) =€0.008 (0.8c) or £0.006 (0.6p). Seb ran into this problem when he first suggested the new fee. He quoted the same price in euros, pounds and US dollars, which would have meant British sellers paying a lot more that American sellers.

From your viewpoint, 1c (USA) is logical but as this site is based in Belgium it would probably be 1c (Euro) which would be 0.7p or 1.26c (USA)
