    I recently had an overpayment on Moneybookers as the buyer included an excessive amount for postage, so I naturally raised a partial refund

    HOWEVER...

    I found to my surprise that Moneybookers charged ME an alarmingly excessive amount for making the refund, under the guise of 'Merchant Refund Fee' - a whopping 40% on the amount I was refunding!

    Moral of the story: if you need to make a refund from Moneybookers either (a) create a new transaction to pay your buyer or (b) issue a credit note or deduct from future orders

    Sometimes the messages from sellers are that long and difficult that you can not easely find out what to pay. Advice to to sellers:
    Start your messages with only the amounts to pay by the different ways of payments possible. Like this:

    Paypal: so many euro's.
    Moneybookers: so many euro's
    Iban/Bic payment; so many euro's

    Then explain how calculated.
    Some times buyers have to read half pabes before the wright amount can be calculated.
    (By the way, yours is reasenable to understand.)
    Many buyers just want to make payment fast and do not want an evening filling program before.

    I find most of these problems are due to the buyer not waiting for an invoice. In these cases they either pay nothing for postage and packing - no doubt thinking this is 'free' or they go the other way and pay far too much.

    On Ebay once though I had a Japanese buyer who purchased 52 phonecards from me at £1 each. He paid for each one individually using Paypal - £2.20 for each card. As I was in hospital my son was looking after things for me and he sent 52 letters to him containing one card! In many ways I was glad I did not have to sort that one out! Incidentally the buyer left glowing feedback.

    If you've signed up for PayPal Micropayments the fixed fee element is only 5p rather than 20p so the pain of making a refund isn't quite as great

    We are planning usability improvements to our eWallet. Because, indeed, some buyers automatically go to PayPal or Moneybookers... and this way we cannot control amounts at all.
