    Hello,

I read in several messages here that this sort possibility is missing for some of you, mostly to manage their items on sale.

It was not a real choice from us to close this sorting possibility. As recently announced, we have created for you a new system to display listings with a lot of new features and possibilities. This has required important changes to the site's software... but also to the database system. Listing pages are now generated 10 to 20 times faster thanks to this new database system... but this system as a bad point: it does not manage alphabetical sorting.

This sorting is used by less than 0,5% of our users, so we have accepted to stop its usage, at least until we eventually find an alternative solution.

Our technical team is now working on a solution. We hope to be able to offer you something during this summer.

New features are here presented: Link (http)

It was important for me to give you some information.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

I totally disagree Sebastien: the new 'features' are to me completely and utterly useless except in very rare circumstances - even sorting by seller or location would be more useful than the new offerings

I always prefer to sort alphabetically as to me this is the most useful option on a day-to-day basis, and is the most basic way of sorting known to man

Thank you for at last responding to confirm that the feature has been intentionally removed. This was not obvious from the announcement ... and also as pointed out in one of the threads it is still possible to attempt this sequence possibility. Net, your technical team have not removed the option completely - although it doesn't work anyway.

I am also encouraged that you are seeking to introduce a replacement. :applause:

Let me be absolutely clear on a specific point that you make. You imply that this feature is for Sellers to use to view their items in Title description sequence. THIS IS NOT THE CASE OR PRIMARY REASON FOR OUR COMPLAINT. I can do this now in reviewing items within Ongoing Sales - so clearly your new database system does not affect this area. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THIS.

The fact remains that this is a feature that our customers need, particularly in the Stamp arena as it is the best way to group 'like' items without trying to search on a specific date. This is (sorry was) a feature that I advertised to my customers.

Delcampe is not very good at providing information on some of the better features in the site - and this was one of them. The feature was never one where the use was necessarily obvious ... and I suspect that this is the main reason it wasn't used as often as the others and also perhaps it is of more use to the Stamp community? No doubt others can comment on this point.

I think it is very dangerous to rely on statistical data when making decisions to remove or justify removals of features from the system. Not many of my customers make purchases based only on price for example ... therefore sequencing by price is not that helpful though I can imagine it is selected just 'out of interest' in many cases.

Surely you can offer a discussion on such intended withdrawals before implementation either via your Moderators or via 'The Forum'. I note you do this on other matters e.g. PAYPAL & Moneybooker charges.

I look forward to the re-introduction of this feature sooner rather than later please.

I agree totally with your comments to Sebastian and would add my voice to those who would wish to see the feature retained.

I too am none too sure of the relevance of sorting by price and agree with Alan that this is not, in my view a terribly relevant option. Yes, potential buyers may look at price to an extent but most similar items are similarly priced (except for very obvious overpricing as per another recent thread). I fear that this option was 'uplifted' from eBay which started a similar sort option some time ago and that that is the main reaon it's there.

    Seb,

Is there any chance the link on the new Store page 'Conditions of Sale - Contact this Seller' could be fixed ... or if not then removed.

The 'Conditions of Sale' does not link to 'Conditions of Sale' and has caused confusion to a number of my new buyers.

I have mentioned this to Support some time ago now.

    Leave it with you.

There is a solution for you (I think) ... go to 'Ongoing Sales' and make sure all the sales are sorted by title. Then search by name of country. Provided the name of country is in the title then you should see all the unsold items for that country in title sequence ... and of course if you have the year or catalogue no in the title too then you should be able to see what you've got quite easily in a logical sequence.

My grip with Delcampe's removal of the (Title A-Z) feature is that my customers cannot see my Store listings within a country category in date sequence ... which means they have to trawl through all the listings ... in some cases 100s to find what they are looking for. This is not helpful.

Anyhow I hope the above is of assistance.
