    Through the French forum and the two English-language links it says that you could still read the forum just not post a message. 5 Euros seems steep to me to pay for the privilege of posting on this forum; I also don't see that 5 Euros would stop the trolling--trolls take pleasure in disrupting and that could be cheap "entertainment" for them.

    Having said that, the French forum message from Sebastien now says that they're considering allowing posting to Delcampers who have a minimum of positvie feedback. They're also thinking of having more Moderation here since some members can't seem to moderate themselves.

    Forums can be disrupted my a very small minority; it takes a significant amount of staff time to deal with issues that arise here--and the English language forum is tiny compared to the French one. I am just ending my Moderator relationship with another forum after 5 years. It's too much work for very little benefit. :fight3:

    Ha! I was often asked that--by members of the other forum, my wife, my self. . .

    A sense of making a valuable contribution was what I was in it for. It wasn't a commercial site so there wasn't much the owner could do for me. Well, every once in a while I could get a book for free if I agreed to review it (I was first in line to take my pick; the site got many books sent to it by publishers.)

    Here at Delcampe, I think Moderating the forum might get in the way of my main purpose here: selling postcards to fellow collectors. It's hard to Moderate properly and not hurt someone's feelings/step on toes/make some tough decisions that may color another's impression of you.

    The Delcampe team gets a lot of headaches from a small minority of posters here; they're just trying to come up with a solution that will allow them to concentrate on helping the site grow, not 'baby-sitting' a few childish forumites.

    PS-I live three blocks from a bakery that won the world championship French baking competition 2(?) years ago. For the best baguette in the world, one must go to West Seattle!:applause:

    trouble-makers feed off of the response of others as much as anything, so, 'yes' if we all ignore them they will go away. This takes time, however, and they can cause some real damage in the meantime by posting misleading/down-right wrong information. I imagine the Delcampe team gets a few e-mails because of each wrong or mis-leading post which only adds to their work load.

    As to the secondary point, one can't argue with the giant trophy and the newspaper clippings--in French!--hanging on the walls of Bakery Nouveau. :D But as long as we all have our favorite morning indulgence, I won't worry about specifics!
