Peculiar search problem

    Just in case this is not a site wide problem, I'll state that I was in stamps and opened a store from a seller's (name: Bibs_troedel) item. In the listed category (Germany - [3] empire - stamped stationery) it was shown in the brackets beside the category name that they had over 390 items listed. When I clicked on the category though, only 48 of these items were displayed. I did this with another seller and found only about half of his items were visible too.
    I am a frequent searcher and buyer and was very careful to set the options correctly, and I have never seen this problem before. Has anyone else experienced this?

    OK , looking a bit further, I think it's just that it's very slow for new lisitings to become visible when a search is done. This was mentioned a few threads earlier, so maybe I should not have posted this thread.

    No problem, thank you.

    The reason is indeed that we are "caching" results to have a faster site... and sometimes items are not displayed immediately, depending the number of new items we are indexing at that moment :wink2:

    The reason is indeed that we are "caching" results to have a faster site... and sometimes items are not displayed immediately, depending the number of new items we are indexing at that moment :wink2:

    No. I agree, does not seem like caching.

    I just looked at Stamps-Germany-3rd Empire-Postal Stationery. It says there are 13351 listings at present. Yet the number actually shown is 10458! I can't believe there are nearly 3000 items in the listing "pipeline" or unindexed in this category.

    Of course, I was NOT asking for any particular search criterion at all.
