Men in British photo postcard

    Looking for help in identifying the group in the attached postcard. Appear to be military with different types of uniforms/coats. A few on back row wearing mortar board caps. One civilian in middle. Thanks for your help. Linda

    Hi there only just seen this. I think in fact they might be US Navy - note the eagle badges on the arms of the two men sitting middle and right in the group of three at the front, and a couple of others. These look like the eagles in USN petty officer badges c. WW1...see here for examples.

    The publisher/photographers Walshams are certainly British - the Doughty Street address is London. But the men might be involved with either the USN Battleship Division 9 ( Link (https) which joined the British Grand Fleet at Scapa Flow, Orkney, Scotland in December 1917. Alternatively, they might be from some other unit somewhere in the south of England.
