I'm fairly sure this postcard is Armentieres before the war. Sadly I can not find either the street names or the clock on Google maps - presumably because of the destruction and road re-naming.

Before I put it up for sale on the site, can anyone please confirm that it is Armentieres? Thank you.

    Hello,

The 'Place Chanzy' and the 'Rue d'Ypres' exist in Armentières (see Link (http) but your view doesn't seem to correspond.

Probably due to the destructions of World War I city (see Link (http) whereafter the city was rebuilt with different buildings?

    Best regards,

    Quasar

Thank you both. Yes, there is another card on the site the same as mine, so that is sorted out.

It brings into focus the devastation that happened a century ago, and the rebuilding during the following decades. So much has changed in 100 years, but these little postcards endure.

    Regards to all.
