    Gibbons' Commonwealth Catalogue contains the following note:
    "The issues printed by Aspioti-Elka with with W58 are known with the vertical stamps having the watermark normal or inverted and the horizontal stamps with the watermark reading upwards or downwards. Such varieties are not given separate listing"

    So to answer your question, it seems any which way is the 'correct' way!
