I hope that someone on the Delcampe team reads this and listens to you!

I am a seller.....where would we sellers be without regular buyers such as yourself?

By the way, Delcampe has promised to keep the old version running until the bugs in the new system are ironed out....could be a long wait!!!

    Hi!

Unfortunately the most problems with new site are not "bugs" but basic design problems and could not be removed without complete redesign of new Delcampe.

And I'm afraid that Delcampe will not do so and will stick to the "principle", and there will be day in the nearer or more distant future when the new site will be simply forced to all of us, buyers and sellers.

For now I for myself use only the old system and look at the new only for time to time to check if there is some changes in the fields of my biggest concerns. Unfortunately until now there is not any changes for better in spite of my and other users' complains in the forum and in the direct comments form for new Delcampe.

Unfortunately this new site seems to have been created to enable Delcampe to expand his list of merchandise offered. The design like ebay is much more generic in it's product offerings and much less stamp driven. The new site might work well if one is interested in buying or selling other collectibles, but does not work well for stamps.Where is the sellers name and country of origin?Where is the preference of selling Internationally? Where is the choice of currency? Where is the list and number of items offered by any seller? And as of today...where are all the sales? My sales have dropped dramatically and I hope this will not be a trend in the future.I loved the old site and find the new site a business plan that disregards stamps.

Yes, regretfully you are absolutely correct.

I was being polite by calling design flaws "bugs" - you call the Delcampe policy "principle" whereas "pigheaded" or "bullheaded" might be nearer the mark. :pc_user2:

I do so hope that Sebastien and his team take some heed of the matters in the forums....or is it fora?....especially the French one where praise for the new system is noticeable by its absence.

A while back when the last shambles of a system was foisted on us, I and various others, took precautionary action to ward off the effects of a sales downturn on Delcampe. As far as I am concerned, that action worked out very very well indeed although some effort was required to achieve the benefits.

I started doing the same again a week ago..... The ONLY reason I am on Delcampe is to sell stamps etc. I really don't care too much how pretty the site is or could be.

Oddly, my best sales site now is one that has a very old-fashioned system that has not changed in 10 years, has a total stamps inventory of about 10% the quantity on offer at D with a relatively tiny number of regular buyers.

So.......size really does not matter (as the actress said to the bishop)

Like the 'silent' majority I'm one waiting to see what the final result will be when the new site is done and dusted and it is foisted apon us.

For sure Sebastien Delcampe is not going to commit commercial suicide and impose something that is unworkable apon the fee payers (the sellers). There is a lot of competition out there one can transfer to including ones own web site which has become a cheaper option as the years have passed by. But I do remember the last exodus to Mascoo and the like which became a damp squib where the grass was not greener on the other side of the hill and many who left gradually drifted back.

A stamp dealer friend of mine was one who left for Mascoo and listed his inventory there (about 10,000 items) and did not have a single sale in six months. Now he is back on Delcampe with about 3 to 4 thousand items and getting a steady trickle of sales. The same friend did the same with Ebid - he did get a few sales there but said it was not worth the effort.

As long as the old site remains whilst the teething problems with the new are sorted out I will remain - though I do have contingency plans should things deteriorate and not pan out when the new site is the only one. Personally I think this is unlikely and that the problems will be ironed out satisfactorily.

I'm not a buyer but a seller, but I have got more days without a sale since the New Delcampe started.
Also today I haven't had a sale, and my Flagcounter is near 0 today
As I understand from some of my buyers they simply can't find my items among all the other sellers on the New Delcampe. :help: :help:
I have simply given up to surfe on the New Delcampe, because I must click, click, click, click, and click again and I don't find what I'm looking for.
I have spend hours and hours trying to find out how the New Delcampe works, but every time I give up and go back to the Old Delcampe
So Sebastian please don't close the old Delcampe. :whiteflag::whiteflag:

While I have been reading this thread I have not up till now added anything to it, like Wycomebe1 I am bidding my time here on the old site while it remains, having looked several times at the new site I found it lacking in many ways.

I myself was one who went to Mascoo, I still have a few stamps there but have never sold nothing, I also have stamps on Ebid, joined it long ago after leaving Ebay but before coming to Delcampe, I make a sale now and again but have not added anything new in a long time. I was lucky enough to find a online international stamp club in the USA back in January where there are no fees and where I can sell cheap items that I cant sell here due to the fees, so far this year I have sold 2230 items on that site.

However I like Delcampe and would like the old site to remain or all its features at least to be combined into the new site

Yes, you are probably right and I hope it all pans out well.

In this thread, contributors have mentioned Mascoo & Ebid...I have tried both of these but they did not work well for me.

There actually ARE sites out there which (for me) achieve reasonable sales at prices equal to or higher than those obtainable on D and none of those contain the words "ebay".

Nowadays, unfortunately, around 70% of my sales come from other online auction sites.....a couple of years or so ago 70% came from Delcampe! How things have changed.

Its wait and see time I guess, but if my sales on D continue to decline at the present rate, I will have to reconsider things.

The biggest problems for me with the old site was invisibility due to the massive quantity of listings on the site (many of which are repeats). The policy of proritising so-called "new" items is also a problem as many of them are not new at all and makes inventory maintenance time consuming and expensive.

None of the other sites I now use has this "invisibility" problem as they are smaller and do not prioritise in the same way as D as listings are not displayed in date of listing order but by other methods

The new D site does not seem to address either of those issues and, if buyers comments are anything to go by, searching is now considerably more of a problem for them on the new site! Anyway, we will see....

    God....its hot here! :zzzzz:

I have been buying on Delcampe for a few years but as soon as the new site is the only option I doubt if I will bother with Delcampe. Using the new site will increase my browsing time by at least 100% and I am not prepared to put up with this.

The new layout might look pretty but it is definitely not buyer friendly. How anyone can design a new system without buyer input is beyond my comprehension. Without the buyer you do not have a business.

No point in waiting for Sebastian to do anything. I spoke to him in person three years ago when he came to Australia - he has still not fixed the problems in the old site I raised with him then - so there is little chance of anything being done on the new site.

Pity because I have made many very good purchases over the years.

    Regards
    Frank

    Hi Frank,

Yes, I understand but really cannot see that Sebastien would take down the old site until the new one was workable....that would be commercial suicide as he would end up with no buyers....and no sellers obviously.

I am sure that you have built up a mailing list of reputable Delcampe sellers over the years and, in the unlikely event that Delcampe do act with complete disregard to its buyers & sellers, yiu will continue to do business with them elsewhere.....coz they won't be here either!

    Enjoy your weekend Mike

Information like this should be available to all users so we can plan accordingly.

Instead of putting this information just in French on the French Forum surely a general announcement where this is available to all would be better?

To be fair to Seb, he does say that the new site is missing some indispensible elements and that it is out of the question to force people to use the new site while those problems remain, albeit he indicates that unless the old site is closed down, all changes will not happen.

This does not answer the question as to why the new site was launched live when it was nowhere near ready - surely if these had been done before launch, the conflict problems he talks about would not be happening.

I read the post yesterday and I do not understand why he would wait until the year end to make a change. On the one hand he claims the old site is preventing the new site from improving.Yet if he closed the old site today, does that mean the new site will be perfect today?I don't get it.There are basic fundamental issues with the new site and the many complaints voiced here have been more than clear. The responses directly relating to the issues have never been responded to.

Mr Delcamps...will you have the sellers nickname on every listing? Yes or no? If no,why not?

Mr Delcampe...will you have sellers keep the choice of which currency to sell in? Yes or no? If no why not?

Mr Delcampe...will each seller's store show the actual number of items listed by country? Yes or no? If not why not?

Mr Delcampe there are many other issues raised by buyers and sellers...will you address any of them? Yes or no? If not why not?

The last response I received from him some months ago was...people always prefer the comfort of old shoes over new ones.Unfortunately what he doesn't seem to realize is that if the new shoes are too uncomfortable one will never wear them.

If it were my site...I would use this forum and simply ask the members to vote yes or no.It's as simple as that.

Yes I agree. The main problem seems to be that, as usual with Delcampe's "improvements" , the new site is poorly designed technically, not properly tested prior to launch and, at present, completely unfit for purpose.

As I understand it, the old site will be withdrawn towards the end of 2016 whether or not the new site actually works! Er....right, a novel plan....should work well - if there are any sellers remaining :pc_user2:that can be bothered to stay that is.

No matter...it is D's site and they can do what they like with it. Sellers can decide for themselves whether or not the new site meets their requirements for profitable & pleasant selling. Fortunately there are plenty of alternatives nowadays (3 of which are working well for me right now). Shame I had to look.....

Why not just keep the old version and make it a bit prettier without all the tampering around , if something works why change it?;)

I am fairly good with technology but the new site is far too gimmicky and I refuse to go on it. This clearly has not been thought through with just the temptation of more greater profits tempting the people in control to tamper with what is probably just ticking over nicely. Though I guess this is 'business'

From experience sticking with the simple versions of things that are tried and tested tends to work out for the better and save time . I am receptive to changes here but I think they should be a gradual evolution of improvements and not a sudden change to an untried system totally alien to buyers and sellers.

I really wanted to know the answer to a very simple question:
For what purpose Mr.Delkampe decided to change the design?

    a) reduce his own profit?
    b) reduce the number of users?
    c) not to increase the number of users?
    d) what else?

if the purpose is in paragraphs a).b).c). - in that case the correct solution

I think the new site is supposed to be a "mobile" friendly platform for smartphone, tablet etc users. But it really does not work properly yet.

In the meantime, my sales on this site continue to decline whilst they have increased quite well elsewhere.

So we will have to wait and see....unless we all die of boredom or old age first of coutse
