I verified my PP account with my bank account details way back in 2004. I have uploaded funds to my PP account a few times, but that goes quite a few years back (2008 or earlier).

Since then I receive more then I spent using PP and usually when I buy something there are enough funds in my account.

Last week I bought something without sufficient funds in my account and used my bank account to fund the balance - the payment was cleared instantly by PP and I've received the goods.

However, today I received an email (or a series of emails) from them saying that my bank had declined the DD and the balance has now been charged to my credit card. They've instantly removed my bank account, so I now have to go through the verification process again or they will stop me from sending money to my bank account (to avoid "money laundering")

I've checked, but the charge does not show on my CC yet, but I am now worried that it's going to be a lot more, because PP says there is a charge if your bank declines a payment (it doesn't say how much though - am I going to be in for a nasty surprise??)

Have I over the years missed something in one of the changes in Paypal t&c's or does a DD instruction simply expire if it has been dormant for a number of years? I checked my bank account and their is indeed no DD for Paypal shown in my long list of DD's.

    Does anyone know?

It sounds like the decline in the DD is due to your bank - I would start with them asking why the Direct Debit was declined. If the fault lies with Paypal I would ring them up and ask them why there was a problem with the DD. Personally - when you can get through to them - I have found the Paypal reps very helpful and they do have the power to stop extra charges if there has been a mix up along the line somewhere.

One of the PP messages states words along the lines of: "Do not contact PP about this, as it is an issue between you and your bank."

I've added the same account to my PP acount again and started the verification process.

I am now waiting for the charge to appear on my credit card before contacting my bank (and create a big fuss if there is a nasty surprise to be had). Usually it takes between 24 and 48 hours for new transactions to show on my online statement, so it should appear today or tomorrow.

Le informazioni non sono più disponibili perché l'account di questo utente è stato eliminato (Regolamento RGPD).

    Mine is a current account.

Going through the verification process again is a nuisance, but if you've gone through the same thing and haven't been charged any extra, hopefully that will be the case for me.

    Thanks for letting me know.

Just curious ... but why bother with funding via your bank account. Credit card is easiest surely ... and ultimately you'll clear it via a bank account anyway?
