'Title (a-z)' Sequence Option

As with all Delcampe enhancement roll outs features seem to disappear without any announcement or comment.

Now the ability to sort listings by title which happens to be a very important one, especially in the stamps area, has gone. As you can imagine with 100s of listings in a particular category, and with new ones being added, the listings can become a bit of a muddle. The 'Title (a-z)' sequence option overcame this problem and put all the listings in a convenient date order. It was a great feature.

Here we have another enhancement bundle with lots of filtering options ... and suddenly this feature gets dropped! It should be the top option in the 'Sort by' within the 'Preferences' section.

I have tried to get an answer from Delcampe as to whether / when this feature will be reinstated but all remains quiet ... as usual.

There were / are other errors introduced with the latest enhancements together with incorrect links but this is by far the most important 'missing' feature in my opinion.

Perhaps someone from Delcampe or a Moderator would like to comment?

I'm beginning to feel like a lone voice in the wilderness. :crying:

Does anyone else have a view on the sudden loss of this feature? :smash:

The only alternative, as far as I know, is the Search feature but you have to be very precise for this to work well for you ... and even then it is a bit 'clunky'.

Any views welcome ... since the new enhancements arrived my sales have dipped dramatically ... and I suspect that the removal of this feature is part of the problem.

To be honest I've never really thought about it as sorting by title has always been by default option, but now you've drawn my attention to it I have to agree - it is very strange that the nearest we now come is a random sequence...

We'll have to start listing items in alphabetic sequence!

Regretably listing in alphabetic sequence only works the first time you list in a Category. As soon as you start adding new listings it will get out of sequence which is why the 'Title A-Z' feature is so important.

    Thanks for your input.

I was curious to see if loading listings in sequence using Lister would work. Not a chance ... it wasn't even close ... surprisingly my test proved the loading of c. 30 items to be completely random. And this is further proof that the 'Title (a-z)' sequence feature needs to make an early return!

Yes, it is a very important feature. My titles contain Scott Catalogue Number so by sorting them collectors know the sequence the stamps are issued. Listing them in date order this way is better than listing them randomly. It will help collectors to refer to any catalogue easily.

I have asked Delcampe again today whether they intend to reinstate the (A-Z Title) feature. I know that this feature is important to my customers and I want it back please.

Delcampe have confirmed to me this afternoon that they cannot guarantee that this feature will return to the site. They imply that sorting features are much quicker without it and also that only 0.5% of users actually use the feature.

I have expressed my disappointment as it was a feature that I strongly recommended my customers to use to view listings in a useful date sequence order.

Unless others agree then it looks as if a unique feature will disappear from the site.

I don't think many users know about this feature and recognize how useful this feature is. I usually include a link to my store sorted by title to potential buyers because I think it is the best way to present my items as my titles include Scott Catalogue Number. Usually sellers will include catalogue numbers in the titles, whether they are Scott, Michel, Stanley Gibbons etc, and sellers usually have their unique way writing their titles so by sorting the titles, usually that means sorting by catalogue numbers. Since usually a stamp list is sorted chronologically, so this feature make absolute sense.

I think this is especially useful when browsing seller's stock. For example, you are selling complete set, souvenir sheet, first day cover, full sheet of a particular issue. By sorting title this way, it helps user to identify what's available for this particular issue. Otherwise, someone looking for complete set and souvenir sheet will have to spend more time looking for them.

I just can not imagine life without this feature.

You have expressed the reasons why this feature is so necessary admirably.

I agree with your comments totally.

I just hope that Delcampe are listening.
