Has anyone else noticed a shift towards Moneybookers?
My payments used to be about 25% MB - 75% PP.
Now it seems to be about 50 - 50.

I find it depends where the payment is coming from: most UK buyers use PayPal whilst most Moneybookers payments are from Europe

IBAN payments have dropped right off from the level they were, possibly in favour of MB

I think that is where my "shift" is.
I seem to be getting quite a lot of MB payments from UK buyers. 3 of them today alone.

To be frank, I don't care how people pay, just so long as they pay!

Reading your post about English tea on the other topic reminded me of working in Newcastle several years ago - there's a huge indoor market (Grainger Market) big enough to get lost in, one of the stalls sells loose coffee beans, ground coffee, and loose tea. I was quite surprised to note they sold three - yes, three - varieties of Earl Gray, my wife's favourite tipple

Not a tea drinker myself, I much prefer coffee so long as it is number 5 on the strength scale - Fairtrade Italian blend with a side plate of caramel shortbread fits the bill very nicely!

Bank transfers are something I'd never considered until I noticed a little IBAN/BIC icon in the corner of my on-line banking screen so being an inquisitive so-and-so I followed up the link and found that my account can accept IBAN payments (albeit in Euros) but I can't use it to send payment since it is a deposit savings account

But - and it's a big but - it doesn't cost me anything to receive IBAN payments, unlike many sellers who won't accept them "because of the high costs involved"

Stefano's comment about accepting any form of payment holds true and not just in the US - we are selling to a global market so within reason should allow for different methods, and the electronic services (PP, MB) available to us now are a lot more convenient - and inexpensive - than the old system of International Money Orders or even cash in an envelope

Depending on how much you sell, providing you don't want to transfer your funds instantly to your bank account, Moneybookers is cheaper. They charge just 2%, instead of the fixed fee + 3.2 or 3.5% Paypal charges, but there is a fee to withdraw to your bank account.

Moneybookers was the only integrated payment method here when I first joined the site - Paypal was added only about a year and a half ago following many many requests from UK and US sellers. As such, I signed up for it more or less as soon as I started selling here.

Basically, my line of thinking is: the more different payment methods you accept, the more likely it is, that you offer a method that any potential buyer can use.

The answer to your last question is no - you cannot transfer funds between them.

    Hi again.

    Everyone operates differently.
Some sellers state clearly in there t&c's that the buyer should add x%, when paying with Paypal and/or Moneybookers.
Some are happy to absorb the cost themselves.
Some add something extra to p&p (s&h) to cover some or all of the cost.

Personally, I belong to the 2nd/3rd group of sellers.
I charge 50p on top of the cost of the stamp. I post everything in board backed envelopes, which cost 12p each if bought in bulk. Therefore I have 38p left over, which covers the cost for Paypal up to payments of about £4. and for Moneybookers up to £19. When I receive lower payments, there is a few pence left over and for higher payments I "absorb the cost". Roughly, this method neutralizes the cost of payment fees for me.
