Do items sell here?

  • Postage_Stamps_Lots
Hello all. Have some questions about selling postal stamps on Delcampe. Would like someone share opinion with me. Sorry on my bad english, it isnt my mother language.

Registered here (Bronze Club+ member and approved my adress) before less than 1 year. But didnt sold anything (tried only couple of stamp and nothing sold). After that I went to Ebay and start selling. Many items sold. But my problem is ebay politics (for example 75 items selling limit per 1 month after months of selling and they dont want to increase it more due to buyers protection. WTF! I have more than 300 positive feedbacks (4.9 stars all) and one negative feedback /negative feedback was given without buyer talking to me, buyer just claimed he get damaged stamps and he had many similar feedback to other people/I REFUNDED HIM no matter he didnt ask for refund, he just give me negative feedback). So I said GET LOST ebay, Youl"ll not get my fees anymore!
And here I come again in hope to start selling.

Have some questions for now and hope some of you guys and girls will answer them.

    1. Is it worth to selling stamps here? (every kid look at ebay). Something sells here? This forum and this place look like abounded (no people)?

    2. How to pay Delcampe fees with Paypal? Is it automatic or I get some invoice that can be paid by paypal? Do I need to pay fees monthly or?

    3. What happen here if buyer claim item not recived?

    4. What happen here if buyer dont pay?

    Thanks for the answers :help::question::question:

    Hello,
You say you listed a couple of stamps here and that they did not sell. That is to
    be expected.
If you want to sell, may I suggest you start with at least 200 lota of nice, interesting, attractively priced stamps and series.
Today, you have nothing selling on Delcampe.
If a buyer does not pay, you do not ship.
If a buyer pretends the stamps were not received, you lose, unfortunately.
Before shipping, always verify the buyer's feedback, to see the comnments
    of the other sellers.
    Good luck

    Hello. Thank for Your answers.
Yes, I didnt start serious sell here, because have dilema "start it or dont start it". Prior to do that I do a little investigation. Wouldnt like to waste my time uploading items when dont know how the things going here and is this place empty. What about fee paying here? Hope that "attractively priced stamps and series" doesnt mean give away your stamps for nothing :coffee:

Things do sell here - I didn't get my feedback just for listing!

As was already suggested, don't rely on a handful of items. Build up your listings - the more you have listed, the more likely the buyers will find you.

You can browse every category and there is an option to browse sold items (down the left hand side of every search), so you can get an idea how many items in a category have sold and for what sort of money.

If you start selling, you will get a monthly invoice on the 1st day of the month, which can be paid with Paypal or by various other options.

No one can expect potential buyers stand in line before an EMPTY shop.

I agree with all the others who have offered advice. Most sellers that I know used to use ebay as their main selling site but transferred all or part of their listings to Delcampe which is a far more specialized collector's site.

It took me a while for sales to start at a decent level and I had to be patient and list 1000 or so items to get proper attention - a variety from a few cents to $200. As in all shops, I also had to build up a regular customer base of repeat buyers.

My experience on sales prices here is that they are significantly higher than ebay but, as a specialized site, buyers expect excellent quality and all defects properly mentioned in the item description. You can, of course, check other sellers prices on similar items via the search engine

Feedback is optional. You can give 'negatives' or 'neutral' if you need to and can request Delcampe to remove any feedback that you consider unfair.

There are no listing fees but you will pay a flat fee + commission on all sales so check out the fee policy especially on low value items.

Hope that this helps & good luck with your listings

Yes, but it helps to have a larger inventory. For example, with 30,000 items, I was selling more than twice as much as when I had 15,000. Buyers like to have a big choice to take advantage of shipping deals, like mey free shipping on 10+ postcards/covers.

And with no listing fees, there is no reason not to have a big inventory. After all, you can always transfer that inventory to another site if it doesn't work out for your here.

My thoughts are 'if you don't try you will never know!' and 'try, try, try again!':D

Best to look at this site as selling for fun in a community - rather than trying to make 'big money'. A few extra pounds is a bonus but the community is great here, and you make great friends here on the forum along the way!
