    The code says:

    Solsville NY
    June 26 1908
    Dear friend
    Mable Am havi
    ng the time
    of my life
    From Laverne

    It seems 'Laverne' has given the letters of the alphabet a random number and Mable had to face the challenge to resolve the puzzle.

    For me the clue was the second line: 26 and 1908 were different than the other numbers. As the card has been posted on June 27, it was not so difficult to figure out that the second line was the date. So the first line was probably the location, which begins with SO in the postmark.
    After that it was a question of trying.
