    After an untypical silence of several days I learned this morning that our good friend Cajun Bill suffered a serious stroke and had to undergo surgery to stop the bleeding

    He is currently in hospital and came through surgery as well as expected

    I am sure everyone who has had contact with him through the forum will want to join me in sending our thoughts and good wishes to Bill and his family

    "I just spoke to Donna & she said she really appreciates all the well wishes for Bill & will relay them to him . Doctors say he is doing a little better but still has no movement in right arm & he is in a lot of pain. I told Donna I have forwarded information from overseas friends & to look on Bill's Tampabayrr. account . She don't know his passwords to access all his account but maybe in a couple of days they can get them from Bill. I will give her a call Sat or Sun for update on Bill's condition & e-mail you again . Regards from Florida, Sheldon"

    Naturally I will update you all again as soon as I have more news

    "I just spoke to Donna & she said she really appreciates all the well wishes for Bill & will relay them to him . Doctors say he is doing a little better but still has no movement in right arm & he is in a lot of pain. I told Donna I have forwarded information from overseas friends & to look on Bill's Tampabayrr. account .     A friend on the French forum has suggested we publish Cajun's address for sending cards; after consultation we have decided to use an accommodation address for him as follows:

    N.B. This address is only for correspondence while Cajun is ill. It must NOT be used for buying or selling.

    Wow... It seems my post went the way of the dodo. I know I posted a heartfelt message here but may have had a slip of the rodent.

    We have news!

    Cajun's friend Sheldon has sent the following communiqué to Etainairforcebase who forwarded it to me for posting:

    "I just spoke to Donna (Bill"s wife) this morning (Sun ) - he's alert but condition about the same. He is off assisted breathing & is on his own which is good news. He still has problem with moving his arm but has movement in leg. He still has a mask on with 50% oxygen, but he is making slow progress . Donna has still not accessed Biil's e-mail so if anyone sends a get well card she asked that you include your address so she can send you a personal note back. He is also following commands from doctors so that is also a good sign that he did not have any brain damage . Donna again thanks all of you for thinking about him . I will give another update middle of week. Sheldon"

    I think we're all pretty shook up about the news, but the latest message does sound encouraging, so let's hope that Cajun's soon starting out on the road to recovery

    I'm sure everyone who's had dealings with him on Delcampe will appreciate what an asset he is to the forum with his knowledge, insight and humour - attributes that will help him with his eventual rehabilitation

    For those of us who can communicate only through the forum it is a pretty frustrating time as we feel we can't do anything concrete to help, although I'm sure Donna is grateful there aren't a couple of thousand of us camped out on her front lawn!

    As you probably know, I've been in enforced incommunicado most of this week, but now I'm back I've written a card which I hope will be only one of many filling his table-top from all his cyber-friends around the world

    Don't worry about being exterminated - reporting upon Cajun's condition and having your account closed are not connected in any way, but rather the result of exceptional circumstances
