    Hello,

To avoid any further misunderstandings, I would really appreciate a clear technical clarification regarding how the Delcampe API interacts with listing duration and the 3-month re-upload rule.

At this moment, our understanding is as follows. Please confirm whether this interpretation is correct:

    - Items submitted via the API have a maximum duration of 28 days.

    - After this period, the items automatically go offline. Because there is other maximum duration.

    - The API “renew” parameter does not actually extend the listing duration in practice.

    - Once an item has gone offline, the exact same object may only be uploaded again as a new listing after three months.

    - The only way to keep a listing continuously active on a monthly basis without interruption is by using the paid “list as new” option.

Could anyone please confirm whether the above interpretation is accurate?

If not, we kindly request a precise technical explanation of:

    - The exact maximum duration of a listing submitted via the API.

    - How the “renew” functionality works technically within the API (including reference to relevant parameters or documentation).

    - Whether a listing submitted via the API can remain continuously active beyond 28 days without using the paid option.

    - How the 3-month rule is applied in combination with API submissions.

My intention is to configure our API correctly and operate fully in accordance with the rules.

    Regards, Willem

    Hi postiljon-topicalcovers,

The "renew" parameters is used to determine the amount of times your item will be renewed before it is closed. For example, if you set a duration of 7 days and a renew of 3, the item will stay opened during 21 days (7 days times 3 renewal)

If you set the "renew" to the string "null", it will be renewed indefinitely until the item is sold. You can find more explanations here: Link (https)

You don't have to pay the "list as new" option to keep your items listed on the website

Don't hesitate if you need more clarifications or if i was not clear on something

    Hello Fred,

Thank you for the clarification regarding the renew parameter.

I have one additional technical question to make sure I understand the behavior correctly in relation to the date_end parameter.

How does the renew parameter interact with the date_end variable?

    More specifically:

If a listing has a duration and a renew value (for example duration = 7 days and renew = 3), but the date_end value is reached earlier than the total renewal period, what happens then?

Will the listing stop and be closed once date_end is reached, even if the number of renewals has not yet been completed?

Or does the renew mechanism override the date_end value and keep renewing until the configured number of renewals has been reached?

Understanding this interaction would help us configure our API implementation correctly.

Thank you in advance for the clarification.

    Regards,
    Willem

    Hi postiljon-topicalcovers,

The "date_end" field indeed has a confusing name. It is used as a simpler way to chose a preferred end day and a preferred end hour.

If you set a duration for your item but the date_end value is reached, the next renewal period will start earlier and will continue until the number of renewals has been reached

I hope it answered your questions

    Fred
