Change is frightening !

  • manne27erika

While all the changes may be a good thing in the long run, I question the need for it.

Dealing on the french Language site finally forced me to learn a little french and I like it.

Somehow Collectors always find ways to communicate. Whatever happened to the concept that we become brothers? The new sites will allow all of us to retreat back into our own little language corner and I for one do not look forward to it.

But what do I know? Maybe it will be good for me. I never did like to take my medicine but Mother always said that it would be "Good for me"

So with that in mind, I want to wish the Delcampe team all the best with this major endevor.

And to all eight of You, a happy New Year Manne (Manfred)

    Hi,
I am personally also a bit worried about this change, which may gradually lead into the same situation than with eBay currently: for a casual bidder it's getting more complicated to understand and more time consuming to find items if one has to browse separate web sites ultimately. Obviously being able to at least initially see all the items for sale at delcampe.net is great, but I guess nobody at Delcampe can now guarantee it stays like that in the future (due to the huge demand of resources to maintain the combined site).

Just like Manne, I have been forced to learn a little French, which I never had a chance to learn at school (I speak English, Swedish, German and little Finnish ;) I have not mind that at all :)

Anyway, I understand the urge of Delcampe to become a truly international player, like eBay, which ultimately requires some changes in the system.

Happy New Year and Good Luck!

I was about to start trading on Delcampe but will put it off until the UK site is running, by the end of the month, I hope. I might as well start there from scratch. I like the overall feel of the organisation and hope it will maintain its current aura. I certainly hope the Franco-Belgians will not feel they are being sidelined by the new departures.

I have been trading sucessfully on Ebay for 5 years but would certainly welcome an alternative [and if possible] rival site. This certainly looks as if it could be the answer. Also useful to me as a collector [as opposed to dealer] as part of my interests have a French bias.

Let's all face the future with a big smile
