    We have not been very present on the website since Friday because we had a lot to do in order to improve the situation.


    1° List of preloaded objects


    In order to improve the speed of the information displayed, we have finally achieved an exacting and time-consuming project ; preloading items lists on the server.

    For instance, if you have a list of items which are "current" (for sale) and sorted by "ending soon first", however you want the list to be displayed, you will see on the right top corner a message telling you "Last Update :... "

    This means that you are on a preloaded list and therefore, it will appear a lot more faster than lists generated by a key-word search or any other type of search.

    The preloaded list will allow you to increase the loading speed of lists. The only disadvantage of this system is that items recently uploaded for sale will not be directly shown in lists. They will have to wait until the next update of the preloaded list before being shown. We consider that despite this disadvantage, the preloaded list system is worth it.

    We also had to delete the "all pages" button for lists with more than 5 pages. According to the statistics, this option was scarcely used for such long lists. Besides, this feature would considerably put at risk the stability of the server.


    2° Pages which cannot be displayed

    The origin of this problem is still very hard for us to find.

    In brief, there is an error somewhere in the codes of the website. Each time this error occurs, the server becomes unstable. Furthermore, with the increasing number of visits, this error occurs so much that the server becomes unstable. This is the main reason why most of you, since this Thursday, had problems seeing some pages, especially items pages.

    All we have to do is find this error for the server to be stable again. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get an error message telling us where is the error. And when you have hundreds of thousands of coded lines, it is like looking for a needle in a haystack !

    We hope that the change we have made with the lists (see number 1) will make up for this error and also that everything goes back to normal. We will keep searching and optimizing all the pages, no matter what.


    3° Slight changes

    We have made slight improvements since last week.

    Many of you could not find their "My Favorites" which are now called "watching list". We have therefore decided to add a link from "My favorites" to the new "watching list". This way, whether you click on "my favorites" or on "watching list", you will always reach the same page.

    We have also added "My Offers Won" and "My Sales Closed" in the toolbar when clicking on "My Delcampe".
