    Hello!
I've recently come across a large number of mint and used postcards from the Third Reich of Germany. A number of the postcards feature Hitler, German soldiers and the Nazi emblem. They are authentic historical items and I want to sell them as historic and philatelic items.
Is that allowed here on Delcampe or are there regulations against it? I haven't been able to find any information about it.
    Thanks, Battlestamps

    Canjunsr1 and Wyvern_postcards,
Thanks for your replies. I did search more on Delcampe and the German military postcards are present here. I didn't find any that feature Hitler nor rallies and the like, but l'll check more or contact Delcampe directly about those kind. I don't have any with offensive messages that I know. Most are typical military training, camp life, humor, military actions, romantic themes (poetry) between soldiers and their love interest. There's also a few from the 1936 Olympics (one featuring Jesse Owens). Those postcards are pretty tame and typical for any military of the era. Most of the Hitler and Nazi postcards are mostly portraits, speeches, marches/rallies, inspecting the troops, shaking hands with kids and similar themes. These are the ones I worry about, but I know they are of historical importance. There's only a few with messages about the annexation of Austria, but again an important historical event.
Like most folks I approach them as purely historical/philatelic items for study and research, but I did have a problem with Ebay a month ago which is why I'm weary. I was selling a registered letter to New York with the 1937 German souvenir sheet that was issued for Hitler's birthday (Scott B102). I described it exactly as it was listed in the Scott catalog and it was reported and pulled as offensive/racist material (despite the fact I found an almost identical cover on Ebay.de from a US seller). There's no arguing with Ebay, but I did find the informational page on Ebay that says that philatelic material was allowed, but postcards with Hitler and Nazi emblems were prohibited. You can still find them listed, but I guess if someone reports it, Ebay will blindly pull it without really reading their own rules.
    Best Regards, Will - Battlestamps

Could you let us know the outcome of your communication with Delcampe, please?
Coincidentally I just found a couple of portraits of Hitler in amongst my postcards and was wondering exactly the same thing.

Thanks to all for the help! I'll have to check those books out too - research is one aspect that I enjoy best (and helps to write better listings) . Now that I know how to search on them here I have seen many like items.
Quite a few of them are postally used as fieldpost mail. I'm going to try to translate a few for my own interest to see what was going on as much as the military censors would allow. Does anyone know offhand a good resource (book or website) on German fieldpost cancels? There's probably a michel catalog, but not sure yet. I can ask this question on the philatelic side of the forums although I know the two worlds cross quite a bit. I already find myself becoming a postcard dealer as much as a dealer of postal history and stamps.
    Best regards, Will - Battlestamps
