Is the Ukraine situation effecting Delcampe sales?

    We all know what is happening in the Ukraine.I wonder if the situation there is keeping collectors from their stamp hobby.
    I do not wish to make a political statement, yet it seems from my sales the last few days seem to have slipped.Just wondering if this is just me or are
    others seeing a difference?

    Here in the UK Brexit is hammering sales. As we are no longer in the EU British goods are subject to import duties and processing fees in EU countries where none had existed before.

    I have had several packages returned as the recipients did not want to pay these taxes so there was no option but to refund. Small orders are not too much of a problem but as the Post Office insist on CN22 labels on all Registered Mail this tends to get clobbered.

    With the Ukraine situation my sales to this country are negligible so unlikely to have had any effect on sales. The huge cost of living increases coming through here are of much more concern as there will be far less cash around to spend on hobbies.

    I think there are ALWAYS people producing philatelic items, like the Channel Islands during WWII, perhaps it is done not in Ukraine, but elsewhere, philatelists are gullible!

    I've blocked buyers from Russia. First time I've ever blocked a country, but most likely mail to Russia will be shut down at some point soon. Business with Russia might be shut down anyway.

    Yes, this is true. Covid has really thrown a wrench into the works. Mail services to and Russia and Ukraine will probably be suspended. Belarus too. Delcampe itself might even have to block Russia due to sanctions. All electronic payments systems will likely not accept payments if the buyer or seller is Russian, even Delcampe's if Luxemburg or the EU says so.

    I totally agree. I had a reasonable trade with Russia on this and other stamp sites, but have now blocked all buyers from Russia and Belarus on all of the sites that we sell on.

    I hope that other sellers, auction houses and selling platforms will also put profit motives in proper perspective and create a unified total trade block on those countries......but I will not hold my breath!!.

    Effective immediately I have blocked sales to Russia and Belarus.If history has taught us anything, it's that the free world can not tolerate facist regimes lead by dictators to force their agendas on free people.The Ukrainian people need all the support the free world can give them.

    At this point there's talk of cutting the payment systems to/from Russia. One is called Swift. PayPal will probably cut them off as well and Delcampe Pay will have to comply as well. No payment, no mailing.

    The Russian people must stand up to Putin.The united voice of Russians could bring down Putin.
