Stamp Condition enhancement

I would like to see the sub-categories 'Used' and 'Unused' removed and replaced by a radio button on the Selling Form with at least the following conditions selectable:-

    Mint never hinged
    Mint hinged
    Cancelled to order
    Very fine used
    Fine used
    Used

The Stamp Condition should be displayed as part of the description.

Along with this we would need a filter on Stamp Condition.

The big advantage here is there would be far less maintenance needed for including Used and Unused as sub-categories. Also, these sub-categories are currently not available for all countries, which is a huge anomaly.

As a programmer I believe this would be reasonably simple to implement.

I also think that filtering on Stamp Condition to this level (ebay only provides new and used) will be a big advantage over all of the alternate auction sites.

I agree with you about the removal of 'unused' and replacement with mint categories as you suggest as even 'mint' means different things to different people - for some it is new unhinged and for others hinged, so no problem there and 'unused (in UK anyway) is taken to mean no gum uncancelled.

I wouldn't necessarily be so precise about the used as this is much more of a subjective area - one person's fine used is another's good used or whatever and in any event is surely not so important as, with the exception of cancelled to order, the qualiy is immediately visible from the scan

I agree, MNH, hinged/unused, CTO, and used. Four categories. Any attempt to sub-divide used is too fraught with subjectivity to be of any real value.

But this is exactly the point - unfortunately many sellers do not describe their sales properly or in enough detail, so potential buyers do not know and I suspect therefore do not buy!

Trying to break down 'used' is really a non-starter - many auction lots are often described as 'sound used' or 'good used' or any other shade of description so there's no easy solution

Even using Gibbons' illustrations of use (in the catalogue prefaces) is open to wide interpretation, and when does one classification meld into the next?

    Let's keep it simple please
