My French isn't good enough to help you.
Maybe it would be better to post this on the French forum.

Which service did you use? I'm assuming Airsure as that is the listed Track and Trace service

    but...

Should you be trying to track the item through the French postal system, or does the French postal system pass details back to Royal Mail to allow you to track it through their web site?

My interpretation of Airsure (from RM's own FAQ page) is the latter

I know that the Spanish and German sites let you track international items, so I assume you can do it there as well.

Ahar is sending from Israel to France.

As far as UK to abroad is concerned - and I know this works for Spain, Germany and Brazil (when their website works!) once the item appears on the RM website as "handed over to the foreign mail system" you go to the foreign website and type your tracking number in there. It will provide you with the progress of your item, but you have to do it in the destination country's language. Specially the Spanish site provides a huge amount of information stating exact date and time when it arrived at main po, regional po, town po, through to delivery.
